Most of the trails are on the golf course, thus pretty open and fairly flat. The course really winds back and forth.

Afternoon
Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Rock skis ]
The skate deck was groomed today and overall conditions are low to okay, based on the warmer temperatures and recent rain. There are slushy spots, icy spots, and exposed groundcover, but for those still really wanting to get it - it can be manageable.

Afternoon
Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
The skate deck was rolled this morning and has about 2-3 inches of snow on top (soft conditions, with some wet areas), and no classic tracks laid. It is scheduled to be groomed tomorrow weather permitting- we are looking for colder temperatures for the snow to set up, more snow, and no additional rain.

Very wet snow enhanced the coverage at Phalen. Skate deck is in good shape and should survive warm weather. The groomer has changed the track in a few spots to miss the thin spots.

Classic skied at dusk and did two laps. The classic track is spotty: lots of places with grass showing through, but all of them are avoidable. The skating deck is firm, but there are also places where grass is showing through. By the time I started the second lap, the tracks were starting to ice a bit. With high temps, the best time to ski Phalen is probably in the morning before the tracks and deck soften too much.

Skating deck and classic tracks were very good. Few sparse spots- easy to avoid. We thoroughly enjoyed our day.

Trail in good shape for the lack of snow we have had. Skated on Saturday morning did three loops and the deck was very compacted. After the grooming yesterday the deck was in better shape for holding your edge. Few spots to watch out for but over all good.

Afternoon
Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Phalen was lightly groomed this afternoon and both the skate deck and classic tracks are in good shape. There are some thin areas, and the trails redirects, but overall good condition for a thin base.

The skate deck was packed down pretty well, but I was able to get a good edge throughout the system. Some areas showing grass, but overall good coverage. The classic track is showing signs of wear with some areas showing grass. Excellent morning to be out.

Phalen has good snow coverage with only a few spots were it is thin. The classic tracks are there but mostly washed out. The best tracks are skied in off the trail since there is plenty of snow. It is great that this place is holding up. What I would give for an inch of snow.....oh well.

In good shape few spots to watch out for. Also there is a sewer cap to watch out for -- need to find a construction cone to place there. Someone jumped the curb and ripped up some of the trail on the north side in a corner near the road, so watch it coming down the hill into the corner.
