Notes

Most of the trails are on the golf course, thus pretty open and fairly flat. The course really winds back and forth.

The St. Paul Parks groomer is a Super Hero! John skated and I classic skied and the conditions were nothing short of amazing! Yes, shallow tracks, but well formed and easy to stay in even around the corners. There were a couple dirt/pine needle spots where you'd expect them under the pine trees (duh!), and one dirty spot at the top of a little downhill, but all easily avoidable. Otherwise, considering the lack of snow, the groomer did an incredible job working what little snow we have. Thank you!

Phalen golf course cross country ski trail was groomed this morning. A fresh corduroy skate deck was groomed. The classic track was in great shape so it was not touched. Enjoy!

I skied at dusk. The classic track looked freshly set. It's a little close to the right side of the track, which means the occasional pole punch. The classic tracks were in good shape, though, even where the wind had blown some snow into them. There was only one place where I had to step out of the track because there was too little snow under some pine trees, but it's easy to see and avoid (I'll be using my good skies the next time). There were maybe a half-dozen skiers using the trails. I really like this track (6.5K for the whole loop). Thanks to the groomers!

I ski everyday and the trails have not been groomed in spite of two days of snow. On Saturday there was drifting snow, but it was still reasonable. On Sunday after another 2-3 inches of snow it was very difficult to ski. Hopeful that the trails will be groomed after Sunday's snow fall.

The trail was wind blown with some drifting. Nevertheless, it was still worth it. The skate deck could use another pass with the groomer. Only a few small spots where grass was poking through.

Par for the course - a lot of drifting snow but also some fast icy sections - but all in all, slow but fun.

The trail at Phalen golf course was groomed this morning and is in great shape. A new classic track was set and the deck has a nice corduroy on it. If you haven’t skied it this year you need to give it a try.
