Notes

Trails are on the golf course. Some nice hills but most of the course is pretty exposed. There is one back leg that is quite shaded and seems to hold snow long after the rest of the course loses it. Rentals at the chalet.

Excellent conditions at night at Como for both skate and classic. Skate deck was wide, even and well covered throughout. Classic track was also in great condition throughout. Great place to get in a ski away from the Loppet this weekend. Great job by the groomers.

Was there from 7 pm- 8:30 pm. Saw just one ski club/team otherwise very few people on a nice night. Classic lane was in great shape and there was still some corduroy on the skate lane from a recent groom. Some hardpack on the sharp turns.

Still excellent for skate. There had been a race earlier this afternoon, but in spite of it the course was still in excellent shape. There was also plenty of light for night skiing, even without a headlamp and even though the big lights by the downhill area were not on, due to light reflected off the clouds. Where was everybody tonight? I had the place almost to myself! Since the ski training clubs stopped using Como for lessons the place feels almost lonely at night.

Great conditions for classic skiing today. No bare areas, no leaves, and fast tracks. It was nice to see the classic tracks in good shape with wider sweeping turns, and plenty of room along forest edges.

Conditions at Como were excellent. As good as they’ve ever been. The groomer was heading out as I was leaving but even with fresh snow on the trail the going was smooth and easy. No ice or bare spots and the rails looked good.

Como saw heavy use from the high school meet with the deck hard and slick (but not icy) and the classic tracks washed out. There is plenty of snow and with a good grooming, skiing should improve.

Morning
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Great weather, no bare spots or leaves, and a fresh coating of snow made for a good morning to ski. Trails had not been groomed and many skiers have used the trails so conditions were not perfect. Entire trail system is open.

The trails had been groomed but the grooves were not well-defined yet after the recent snowfall. It was still really good classic skiing. The wind started picking up later on but the temperature/humidity weren't too harsh.

Skied classical. Trails were rolled but not groomed yet. Skate skiing trail not too wide (per skier I met on trail). Very nice snow.

It was cold but with no wind it was enjoyable (well to be honest there was some wind, I had a burrito for dinner). The downhill slope kept there lights on till 8:40 pm. Was able to get really good kick in the classic tracks.
