Always nice to ski CW! The trails are 90% snow covered, but some thin spots in open areas and several areas with debris on the trail (likely stuff below the snow from the Dec. wind storm that the groomer chewed up). Skate deck was still pretty soft and very chopped up, as expected with a multi-use trail after a busy weekend. Tracks are solid in most places. Get out there!

Was able to get our on the skate ski trails before they got too chewed up by the walkers and bikers; trail just groomed earlier in the day. Soft new snow on Saturday afternoon. Some areas with exposed grass, few places with exposed gravel and rocks so watch out. Classic track (which I didn’t ski on) had several visible grassy spots.

This is the first time in a long time that I’ve skied at Chester Woods where there was a beautiful track set for the classic skiers. I saw a lot of snowshoers also out on the trails today. I also crossed paths with someone from the Birkie! It’s been over 10 years that these trails have been this good. As I finished my workout after almost two hours I crossed pass with a couple skate skiers. They look like they were having fun too!

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Rock skis ]
A 3 inch snow event was groomed this morning. Classical track was set however some areas of the trails are thin base. Trail should firm up overnight and be ready for some good fat tire riding. Be mindful to ride to one side of the trails with snow conditions being soft.

With the fresh 3" snowfall from yesterday, we were able to groom the trails. The base is very thin so there are a few bare spots. It is obviously too thin to set track, but the temps are cold enough that it should set up what snow we do have nicely.
