Afternoon
Firsthand: Both
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Classical tracks set yesterday from Dike East parking lot to the intake structure were thin and bottoming out in some areas. Skier packed track from intake structure to and through Lindenwood with an inch packed snow on a one inch firm base with some exposed areas or sections under tree exposing bare ground or grass. Skating lane was packed and combed yesterday early morning. Deck firmed up some overnight - but still soft and several areas of thin coverage. The edges of the deck were firmer than the center. Skiers were cutting through to blacktop where the ski trails cross the paved rec trail. Early season trail conditions with 12 inches total snow for the season.

Morning
Observation
Three inches of dry, super-fluff snow overnight was packed early this morning over a base that is firm and an inch deep except in exposed areas that blew to bare ground or melted on the warm days.  The skating lane was combed yesterday to take the edge off of the tree trimming crew ruts on the deck.  The skating lane packed to one inch on the firm icy base and the soft dry snow will take time to 'set'.   Classical tracks are thin and set where there was enough snow.

[ B skis ]
Six inches of high moisture content snow on frozen ground overnight.  A few exposed areas blown down to grass and areas under trees have thin snow coverage.  Skier packed classical track from Dike East to Lindenwood. Tracks would cut into grass / dirt in some areas - but, overall good first ski of season.
