Morning
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, Rock skis ]
The remaining snow softened nicely mid morning. A lot of the trail still has significant base but the bare spots and ice patches are growing. I'm estimating that 75% of the trail is snow covered, 15-20% ice covered, and 5% bare with scattered ice patches. Some sections are great and some sections are treacherous so be careful and consider wearing a helmet. I would also avoid White Pine which has many South facing sections and South Loop due to the fresh gravel that was added last fall. The grooming equipment has been put away for the year so don't expect freshly groomed trails until next season.

Wonderful spring skiing this morning at After Hours in Brule. Temps in mid 40s and sunny. Classic skied with skins, which worked well, and classic track was pretty good. Skate deck smooth and good, and looked like no one had skate skied on it recently- no ruts. There's still a foot of snow base there. Thanks to the groomers for continuing to groom this amazing XC resource.

Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: Most, Good skis ]
DNR groomed skate deck and classic tracks on the northern most trails. While a little soft underneath, I easily skied (and saw someone had skated) Easy Entry, Maple, Oak, Spruce, east/west/north loops, Balsam, Aspen and Easy Return.

Trails are completely covered in several inches of fresh ungroomed snow, slightly too deep for skate skiing. We did not see any groomed trails after skiing for several hours. Classic was workable but slow going throughout the trail system. It appeared another skier had been out on a handful of trails earlier in the day. Snow was continuing to fall as we left in the late afternoon. Beautiful scenery.

Fresh grooming of skate deck and tracks set. Sally's tracks set. Soft conditions with about 6 inches of new snow overnight but excellent spring skiing.

3" nice snow. No grooming except by my tracks. I was the only one on trail. I skied out and back in same tracks.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Good skis ]
After Hours had about an inch of fresh snow on the skate lane. Tracks were skied in. Conditions were great with fast, but a bit sticky snow. The first segment of Sally's Classic from Balsam to Oak is closed.

I skied a short loop including Maple and Aspen. A ton of fresh snow over the past few days and all trails that I saw have been groomed (including classic tracks). Get out there any enjoy it!
