Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
We received about 2 inches of very light snow throughout the day. We have been out yesterday and today working out the icy conditions. All the main trails have been groomed and tracked excluding red pine and nebagamon creek trails. Sally's classic trail was groomed and tracked yesterday. Fresh snow today has some trails lightly covered with powder. Conditions are excellent with a very nice glide noted this evening while I was out skating.

Amazing! The groomers were able to turn near boiler plate surface to powdered crushed glass type snow. Both tracks and skate lane were fast yet controllable and kickable. Conventional hard wax gave great grip and the tracks and skate lane was clean with minimal litter. Top notch trail with excellent grooming.

Grooming Scheduling
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Today we ripped up most of the old track and reconditioned the skate lanes from weekend icing. All trails are groomed. The interior trails around the chalet have been freshly tracked. Sally's Classic track will be groomed and tracked on Thursday. Expect conditions to vary, but improve as the weekend approaches. The skate lanes are in excellent condition and the track set mostly to full depth.
This Saturday, Feb 8th, we will be hosting our annual Candlelight ski and hike event. The program will be from 5-9pm and is free for all! We will be offering hot cocoa, apple cider, coffee, marshmallows for roasting, and a grill for everyone to use if you would like to bring food along. Ski conditions should be excellent with temps in the low 20's cooling to the teens during the event. Free pie and ice cream will be provided for children 11 and under thanks to the Brule Valley Ski Club. This is a great opportunity to get the family out to experience the ski trails at night.

21 F and cloudy at 9:00 AM when I got to Brule. Light dusting of snow overnight, and recent snow had been groomed yesterday, but almost all trails groomed again this morning. Quite fast, and trails in perfect condition (proof is in the pictures). I skated a short time and strided quite a bit. Lots of snow in the beautiful north woods (see outhouse pic). I skied for just over 3 hours and never saw another skier! There were 10 cars in the lot when I left, and I did see a few other tracks, but the 5 deer were the only living creatures I saw. When I stood at the Brule River overlook on the new Nebagamon Creek trail (pic) I could only think of the words from the song, Come By The Hills, "ah, the cares of tomorrow can wait, 'til this day is done".

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
We have all the trails groomed and tracked including classic trail. Nebagamon creek and Red pine trails were completed today. Most of the trails have a light coating of fresh snow but skied pretty well. We will continue to groom as necessary for the weekend.

Wonderful as usual. Worth the short drive from Duluth. Freshly groomed earlier in the morning. Tracks were in great form. No wax skis were holding solid. Skiing with single layer and a vest unbelievable in January.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
We continued to roll and groom the remainder of the trail system today, while setting fresh track and touching up existing skate lanes. We hope to finish final grooming tomorrow before temps get too warm. Some trails are firming up while others are still freshly groomed and soft.

Firsthand: Freestyle Grooming
[ Trails Open: Most, Good skis ]
I groomed and tracked the interior trails including maple, balsam, Aspen, river, and spruce. I also tracked Sally's Classic trail. We had 4-5 fresh inches of fluffy snow that set great skate lanes and track. I skied many of the interior trails and they are still quite soft. At least there are some trails to ski for the rest of the weekend. We plan to be out grooming on Tuesday to finish the remainder of the trails.
