Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
The main trails were groomed and tracked yesterday. The race route from this past weekends River View Loppet is still groomed and signed with the remaining trails being groomed and tracked normally. Sally's Classic Trail has been re-tracked today and is in good condition with minor debris seen in some thin areas. Skate lanes on the entry trails were groomed with a leveler today and are significantly more uniform than before. The trails have about a 4 inch base on average and have firmed up well with the recent cold temperatures. The trails will be touched up as needed.

Beautiful day for a ski in a beautiful forest! Well worn and icy ski deck on most loops, others not recently groomed but easier to ski than the worn down trails.

Beautiful day out on the After Hours trail! Skied the Riverview loppet and the deck was incredibly (almost scary) fast. There was a little bit of debris on the trail but was easily avoided. A few thinner spots inclined me to put the B ski designation, but you would probably be fine with good skis too. Think snow!

Good grooming with full depth tracks. Some dirty and thinner areas that were avoidable. They’ve added a couple of new trails since I last skied here (last year?) that bring you down my the river (in addition to the old River trail). Fun and pretty. Parking lot was full, but it was quiet on the trails. Fun day on these scenic trails.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
All trails are groomed and tracked for the anticipated busy weekend ahead. There's about a 5" base with a few thin spots scattered throughout the system, but nothing to avoid. Both skate and classic are excellent. On Saturday, both daily and annual ski trail passes will be available to purchase in-person at the trailhead. Also available will be the 2021 Annual State Parks and Forests Vehicle Admission sticker.

24F, partly sunny, calm. The trails were in great shape. The groomers were out while we were there. They did a great job! But it was a bummer, too, because the tracks and skate deck were firm before the grooming, and really soft afterwards. Too bad they can't groom at night.

Compared to other years not much base but the cover in the canopy and on the trail give a mid winter feel. We were greeted to new grooming while it snowed about an inch which made for a smooth ride. Like most trails an occasional dirt spot that are easily avoidable with most tracks deep and firm.

Winter wonderland in the sunny Brule forest today. Beautifully flocked trees throughout. Sally's classic trail freshly groomed. Some other trails had been busier with more washouts on tracks but overall great skiing throughout.

[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
In my 65 years on skis, I have had many "magical" skis. None more magical than today. Early fog yielded hoar frost, and the trees were bedecked in lake-effect powder, gorgeous when the sun burned off the fog. Excellent grooming, classic tracks excellent 90% of the time. I skated a few kms, just slightly soft so I headed back to grab classic skis. Swix blue gave plenty of kick with the temp low to mid 20s. In nearly 3 hours of skiing, I saw no one while I skied, though the 2nd parking lot across the road was getting full as I left. The pictures do not do justice to the magical mood in the silent forest, with the thick conifers in places creating dark tunnels, with sunshine breaking through. Only to be topped by the overview of the bank-full Brule glittering in the sun.

Great conditions today. Despite the new snow, all trails are pretty packed down and fast. Had on a green kick wax covered by Rex 30G which was perfect.
