Trail Reports

2020-2021 season
Reports 12 to 21 of 24    Month: Mar | Feb | Jan | Dec
Saturday, February 6, 2021
Morning
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
The classic tracks are firm but slow due to the cold temperatures and the winds have blown oak leaves into sections of the trails (skin skis work ok). The skating deck is very firm and not very much used as of noon today.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
All trails were groomed today after our 5" snowfall. Good classic tracks were set throughout the system except for hills of any steepness, where the groomer picks up the track setter. With the wind some leaves were in the tracks and drifts obliterated the tracks in some stretches. The skating deck looked firm and barely used as of 3:00 today.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
No new grooming today but the skating deck is firm but not hard, and fast. The center of the trails are packed from skaters while the sides still have some softer snow and corduroy. No classic tracks set.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic Scheduling
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
The first 1 or 2K from the chalet have been heavily skied and the skating deck is firm and getting smooth. Farther out there some good skiing and remnants of yesterday's corduroy. No classic tracks. A handful of brown spots.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Most of the trails were groomed again today, except some of them only had one pass and the other half of the trail was soft and rutted from yesterday. Where the trails were groomed the skating was firm. No tracks set; snow is still shallow.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Good skis ]
Trail was groomed over once, very soft, lots of tracks. No classic tracks set. Some thin spots, and it was slow skiing, but very skiable. Glad to get some snow down.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: Most, B skis ]
Heard the local ski team was out there yesterday, so went out to give it a shot. Base was pretty thin and bumpy; some icy spots, and definitely some bare spots still. Not groomed and no classic tracks set, but a lot of trails had been well skied on. Good time to practice balance and stability. I didn't do most uphills, as the ones I checked out had a lot of bare spots. I saw very few tracks going up those trails, but guessing the bumpiness and bare spots were reasons skiers weren't going that way, so turned around. Hoping we get snow. Still, if you want to ski, there's a good part of Tower Ridge that is skiable and you really, really want to get out without traveling 90 minutes or more.
