Nordic Ridge community groomer laid a twin corduroy snowmobile track on Birkie Ridge. Both classic track and skate are very soft but much better than mid calf powder. Big thanks Steve.

I classiced the Birkie trail between the start and OO while my husband skated partway out and back to car and picked me up. Everything has been groomed up. Half of skate deck that was groomed first was icy with bullet-proof corduroy. Deck on the track side firm and edgeable. Coverage is good for both classic and skate, trail is very firm and fast and tracks glazed. Some debris on edges.

Social Media has Birkie Trail back open. Looks like they ran PistenBully couple of passes at OO - did not see tracks but they informed trail back open. Remember will be closed after Sunday midnight for race preparations.

The groomers did a nice job grooming both skate and classic trails at the loops at OO Saturday night. The skiing was drastically better on Sunday as the tracks and skate deck were very hard and icy on Saturday south of OO to Mosquito Brook. They did a great job so that a lot of people could ski on Sunday at OO. Thank you groomers!

Skied OO to Mosquito Brook. Icy overall except where afternoon sun turned things soft. Tree debris which was more noticeable further south. Tracks had mixed offerings.

Rough time classic skiing with all the pine debris between OO and Mosquito. Fell hard twice hopping out of the tracks to avoid debris and got caught up in some deep grooves on the skate deck. Classic trail is best closer to OO.

Report for OO to Mosquito. First 4k south from OO were in amazing shape. Things go quickly downhill from there. Lots of debris on the trail along with snow clumps dropped out of the trees that have turned into ice speed bumps. It was 11k of constant hopping in and out of the tracks to avoid debris. Warm weather has left wildly variable snow conditions that make classic difficult, skied through what seemed like cold powder, icy glazed tracks, soft warm snow and slush. The downhills were rutted and it was easy for your skis to wander where someone else had put an edge in. I was on skins and they were saturated by the time I got to Mosquito. The OO area trails all looked good so if you want to ski the Birkie trail this weekend with all the events on the north end I'd recommend doing some loops there. I'd say conditions are borderline dangerous unless you are really on your toes.

I skied from OO to Mosquito Brook (and back) because it had been groomed yesterday. As a mediocre skier I felt it was a little hazardous because it was quite icy with lots of tree debris in the tracks as well as snow (that refroze in clumps) that has been falling from the trees with the warm weather. However, after as the day went on things softened up a bit and the groomer was out again.
