Trail Reports

2020-2021 season
Reports 15 to 24 of 57    Month: Mar | Feb | Jan | Dec | Oct

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Low temperatures have made the snow very hard, so getting a good kick on the skis was difficult. Skied the purple trail where wind wasn't as bitter and it was fine. A bit of leaf litter in the tracks in one spot.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Good skis ]
Skied and walked in through the woods from TBR to the east end of the Silver trail, crossed the bridge and did the west loops on the Purple. Snow was fine and fast, good technique needed to get traction. Ice under a relatively thin layer of snow meant the poles often failed to grab. Saw one other person.

Morning
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Skied blue/green from the Nature Center up to the falls, then up the hill and back down on the south side trails orange and brown, finished on purple. Trails have been groomed, great snow coverage but variable conditions. Mix of hard skied in center with softer outside. Groomer was out, trails should be perfect in upcoming days.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Skied the purple trail and loop. Sub-zero temperatures have made the deck and tracks very hard and slick so didn't get as much kick from my skis, but got more out of my poles to compensate. Very few people out, but the swans, geese and ducks didn't seem to mind the cold.

I skied the Red, Brown, Purple, Green and some Orange. Plenty of snow out there, that's for sure, so feel free to bring your good skis. The skate deck is a little soft, with a bit of drifting (mostly in the prairie trails like the Red), but what a great problem to be having, in my opinion. What a difference from a few days ago. This is going to be a great weekend of skiing at the Willow, well worth some low temps. The classic tracks look great too, but they're drifting in in some places. Thanks groomers, you guys are the best!

Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Skied the purple trail and tracks had been set earlier in the day and were in fine condition, with only a couple of low spots with a little stubble showing and only one spot with drifting snow. Should be good to go for the weekend.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
All trails have been groomed and tracked and are in excellent condition. The wind is causing some drifting in spots. Please report any problem areas to the park staff who will relay to the groomers so they will know which areas to address.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
All of the trails were rolled Thursday afternoon and evening. We plan on grooming and setting track starting at 7:00 am Friday morning. With the overnight winds, there may be some drifting on parts of the Yellow, Orange, and Green trails.

Groomers were at work Thursday night and went over some trails again this morning. Trails yesterday and this morning are really, really nice. Given the amount of snow we have gotten this year, really great job by the groomers! Skate deck is flat and firm but has been raked to level and soften things up. Just a few bare spots and some increasing debris on the trails but all easily avoidable. Some icy/hard patches on the hills or in the corners but all manageable. Again, great job by the groomers and looking forward to some snow to freshen things up.

Fantastic! I covered the brown, green, silver, some yellow, orange and red trails. Best ski of the year for me. I hate to tell everyone how great it was. First time here for me. Thank-you volunteer groomers.
