Trail Detail
Notes
Trails range from easy, such as the Purple Trail running along the Willow River, to the challenging Brown and Silver trails. Trails are groomed for both classical and skate skiing. All grooming is done by volunteer groomers who pride themselves in providing the best possible conditions.Trail Reports

A nice ski, did the skiing from the group camping lot to the beach Peking area by the river. Open areas were wind blown sometimes with snow packed in, other times icy. In the woods it was more consistent. Debris down in the woods, and some thin spots.

An inch of snow overnight made the trails somewhat soft and slow but great to get an edge. Grooming on silver, brown, green with little debris and a nice ski. No grooming yet on yellow, red and parts of purple. Brown trail rollercoaster was not groomed yet but skied in, fast and fun. Areas under the pines on yellow and up on the "prairie" trails had some bare spots, better to avoid yellow until we get some more snow.

We received 2+ inches of dense snow and it groomed out very well. We are in the process of re-tracking everything and re-finishing the skate deck. We should have all trails completed by 11:00 am this morning. The new snow filled in most of the isolated bare spots but there are still a few, so keep an eye out. The skate deck is corduroy side-to-side and the tracks are well-defined.

Trails have been newly groomed and tracked since snow earlier this week, very firm and smooth now with just a bit of leaf litter here and there. Classic tracks were excellent and skate deck looked good too. Skied the Purple trail loops and saw lots of deer in the woods as well as a few trumpeter swans flying overhead. An excellent day to be out and on skis!

Grooming [ Trails Open: All, ]

All ski trails have been groomed for skating and tracked for classical skiing. There are a few spots where the snow is thin, particularly in open parts of the track. Wooded areas are in good condition. Skate lanes are generally snow covered, packed, and groomed. There are a few areas where the snow has blown over the trail. Have fun but dress warm, as the sunshine is deceiving, and the cold wind is cutting. Excellent hard wax conditions for classical skiing.

The park received around 3–4 inches of new snow. All of the trails were rolled throughout the day. We are planning to begin setting classic track tomorrow morning. The base may be a bit thin in spots hence the B ski recommendation. Grooming might be a bit slow at Willow for awhile, one of our two grooming machines is currently down for repair.

Skied the Purple trail, were some bare spots and deck was pretty hard. Still a decent base though and the classic tracks were in good shape.

I started with skate and quickly switched to rock skis. Some sections are good but there are many sections with gravel strewn throughout the trail and occasionally larger rocks. It’s all very skiable but not possible to avoid all the gravel sections. It was a little uneven and hard to get a good v2 rhythm on about half of the trails (my squirrely rock skis probably had something to do with this). Classic went better and the tracks had good coverage in 80% of the trails. Great wildlife sightings- swans, eagles, geese, ducks, deer, rabbits and various other birds large and small that I didn’t know. My nose hat purchased last year did the trick protecting my face in its first subzero test.
