The additional 2” yesterday really made a difference. Rolled last night. Groomed and track set this morning. The tracks have some grass coming thru especially out in the fields. The skate deck has occasional bare spots but is mostly very good.

Skied campground, red, brown, and purple. Campground had some footprints from hikers breaking the rules, but was overall pretty good. The yellow hill to get from campground to red/brown was in surprisingly good shape as well, other than the last 20 or so feet at the top, which was solid ice. The first downhill on red was a bit icy, but the rest of the trail was in pretty good shape! Didn't do the extra loop though, so I can only speak for the main loop. I don't recommend skiing on brown right now. It was not groomed, so it had about an 1/8th inch layer of ice on top of a couple inches of fluff. This made the trail very fast, but it was incredibly difficult to stay upright and in control. Also could feel my poles hitting the ground on the first uphill, but that was the only spot on my entire ski that I noticed that, so I was pleasantly surprised with the snow coverage! Did both extra loops on purple, and the snow was pretty good there too! I used my rock skis, but if it weren't for the icy patches, I would almost be ok with using my good skis, so that's why I said B skis. Didn't pay attention to the classic tracks, so I can't speak for the condition of those.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Most, Rock skis ]
Received 2" new last night and started grooming as the freezing rain stopped so the grooming was able to bring up the good snow and mix it with the crust. The dense snow packed pretty well and tracks were set on silver, red, green, yellow and orange. Pretty good deck on the rest of the system with no tracks. Sections in the fields had drifting so there are bare spots out there but coverage is good in the wooded sections.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Partial, Rock skis ]
Willow received a few inches of new snow. There wasn't enough base left to groom most of the system with that small amount of snow. two training loops with some coverage were groomed (inside of red, 1.5K; and, campground loop of green, 1.5K.) There is a fairly good skate deck on those with grass showing thru in limited spots. There have been a few skiers navigating trails that are not groomed, but the problem will be not being able to see what is underneath the limited new snow.

Took the Green Trail late in the day. Warm temperatures made for a slick track and there were a few thin spots out in the open. Some litter in the woods. Thanks to those who got out last weekend to roll the trails and set tracks!

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
All trails have been groomed and tracked. “Skiers Only” signs are now up and should reduce foot and bike(!) traffic. We decided to prioritize getting trails skiable over spending time putting up signs.

Soft skate deck but classic tracks the whole 12k loop we skied. Unfortunately some ruts from walkers/bikers but full coverage and no regrets using good skis.

Skied the green, campground loop and blue to the falls and back. Thanks to the groomers for yesterday afternoon grooming the campground and blue (also saw they groomed some others but did not ski them). The campground loop was great...nice skate deck. The blue was nice as well...unfortunately hikers thought it was a good idea to walk right in the middle of the deck along with a fat tire bike that was sinking in the deck. The blue deck was a bit soft but still very skiable. Really bummer to have bikers and walkers impacting what would be an awesome skate deck.

Groomers have done a great job with all the snow to set both skate and classic tracks. I attempted from the boat landing to skate Purple and Silver trails around the river. There has been so much foot traffic in the middle of the skate deck on all trails and the steeper hills on Silver were dangerous with the big holes. As well I encountered several people running on the trail. Until the ski only signs are posted and the park starts to enforce ski trail usage rules I would not attempt skating.

All trails are groomed and tracks are set. Excellent conditions. New snow packed in pretty firm now. Tracks are well-defined.
