Trail Reports

2018-2019 season
Reports 41 to 47 of 47    Month: Apr | Mar | Feb | Jan | Dec | Nov
Saturday, December 8, 2018
Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: Most, B skis ]
The core trails have been newly groomed and tracks set. The rest of the park has been previously packed but not recommended yet. Skate skiing was firm and thin but deep enough for a really nice ski. Occasional grass stubble to work around but 90 percent no worries.

Very good early season conditions. We strided a big loop from base loop to X-C express to Nepcos cruise. All the trails we freshly rolled and in very good condition. There was very little grass and stubble showing through. I saw no hunters and heard no shots. There were no rocks showing through.

Awesome early season conditions- I was amazed how great the skating deck was! Trails have been rolled, skied on, 2 inches of more snow and that has been welled skied into a great skating deck by ski team. I skied base loop, nosedive, survivor, and tornado alley. X-c express and sleigh ride are also groomed. No classical track. Park outside the gate and ski up firetower road or walk past gate to base loop trail on your right. I used B skis, some grass/stuble poking through but not much. Wear orange hunting season going on. Another tip-ski between 11 and 2 as hunters hunt sunrise and sunset times. I am thankful for skiing in November this Thanksgiving!

6" of snow have been rolled on base loop and a few other trails. Rock skate skiing looks surprisingly good. HS team had first practice today.

Sounds like a rolling on the "Inner trails" as WP announces a "soft opening". There's parking outside the gate, chalet closed, and a donation container...somewhere. Haven't skied there yet, but would think a "B" ski would be appropriate. Hey, for skiing in November, it sounds pretty dang good.
