Notes

The trail system consists of approximately fifteen miles of groomed trail and another ten of ungroomed backcountry routes. The more advanced trails are located north and west of Levis on Trow Mound, while intermediate and easy trails lay near the base of Levis Mound. All groomed trails are set with diagonal tracks and a skating lane averaging 12 feet wide. Depending on snow conditions, the trail is generally groomed twice per week. Trail passes are required. Facilities include a new cross-country ski chalet, running water, mens and womens bathrooms.

Heard from groomer that the trails were groomed on Friday. Thank goodness! It made for "doable" conditions with just enough edging on mostly hardpacked skate deck. Despite the groomers efforts, some icy spots and many uneven surfaces made skating fast but challenging in places. Classic tracks, although also icy, proved more consistently enjoyable with fishscale skis.

It was a winter wonderland at Levis with fine classical trails and a firm skating lane. I skied the whole outer loop over Mound Bounder and had no problems.

Conditions were great at Levis this afternoon. Classic and skate trails had been groomed Friday night and then about an inch of new snow fell overnight. Just gorgeous. There were some soft spots and a few leaves and twigs but 98% of the trail was just wonderful. Plenty of depth to use your best skis. Get out and enjoy it!

Hats off to team for grooming. Many trails groomed after big storm. Fair conditions despite the thin coverage and warm up. Some bare spots, but most are easily visible. The trees dropped tons of sticks, leaves, pine needles, etc. Freeze/thaw has not helped either. They need more snow. However, Fat Biking trails were in great shape!

I skied the perimeter trails this afternoon and it was gorgeous! Lots of snow up in the trees. Trail coverage was very good with only a couple dirty spots. Lots of oak leaves and twigs but nothing to really damage your bases. Skate lane is quite solid as it has set-up for a couple days. Classic tracks are mostly quite good but are icing up with the warm temps. There are a few thin spots but really great skiing for this early date in this part of the state.

The trails are quite skiable if not perfect. There are a few rough spots in the skating lanes and the classical tracks are often icy. However, I was able to ski the perimeter of the course with the exception of Bad Bear and was very satisfied for a December 2nd ski outing.
