All trails were in excellent conditions for both classic and skate skiing. Afterglow is open to the public this year Thursday through Sunday for skiing, snowshoeing and fat tire biking, They have a great warming room and bathroom. Pete and Gail run a great ski resort and Pete's trails are always some of the best groomed trails in the area.

Afterglow is back open to public Friday Saturday and Sunday for a daily fee. I couldn’t be happier because conditions were excellent! The wide skate deck was firm and fast. Some wind debris but overall a great afternoon skiing! Afterglow is a Northwoods gem!

Afterglow is at it again! Excellent. Skating 10 of 10. Yes, temp was a chilly 7f, but it was fast and smooth and firm. A little dusting of lake effect snow freshened up the tracks a pinch. Some wind blown debris in the tracks puts the classic rating 9.1 of 10. The multiple wolf tracks on Trail 5 did not detract from speed or smoothiness! The mass of trees downed from the Dec storm is shocking. Kudos to the Vilas Volunteers and Pete for clean up.

[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Afterglow Trails are now again open to the public for XC-Skiing, Snowshoeing, and Fat Biking. (Tubing hill and Ice Skating are not open to the public). New hours: We are open Thursday-Sunday, closed Monday-Wednesday. On Dec 15th we suffered to worst storm damage in our resorts 73 year history. Straight line winds knocked 10's of thousands of trees down on our property. We posted some photos and videos and calls started to come in of friends offering to help. Unfortunately the damage was way beyond what a group of people with chainsaws was going to be able to clear so heavy equipment was needed to get the worst pockets of downed trees. The number of volunteers brought tears to our eyes. It seemed like every time we needed another hand someone else would offer to help. The job these volunteers completed was enormous. Thank you to all the volunteers, we just can't thank you enough. Please be advised when driving into the resort speed has been a big issue. My dogs have nearly been hit multiple times. Please drive slow in the resort. We are on our feet again. Please come out and ski. Thanks.
