Trail Reports

2018-2019 season

Flat "beginner" trail systems near the main parking lot/trail head had been very recently groomed with classic tracks as well as skate lane. Intermediate/advanced trail systems were only recently groomed in certain areas. However, with sun and temps above freezing for a few hours, even the ungroomed areas were pretty good for skating, all things considered. Double poled in the shade, skated in the sun where you could easily get an edge. Sure the snow was a bit slow due to the temperatures, but faster than expected - it was pretty transformed. Ski with caution in those outer areas - the bottom of at least one hill is now a swamp.

Huge thank you to Bob the groomer for putting some TLC into the trails! We were treated to fresh grooming on the red today and we ventured off to part of the green too! Our first lap was fast, but not icy, the next couple had softened up a bit but it was still great glide! He said he plans to groom Saturday but not Sunday. Well worth the drive over! Make sure you get your ski pass before you head out.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
All trails north of 42nd Street have been groomed this morning with some touch up of the track. The purple and yellow trails have some draining crossings with water flowing, so skiers should use caution on these trails.

Fearing the impending rain may ruin our skiing for the season I drove through the fog and mist to hit up Sup-town. I thought I may find mush and come right back home. But it was great! Groomed impeccably as usual. A bit sticky. But I had the right ski and wax for the situation. So glad I went! Let's hope the trails survive the rain.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
All trails were groomed today and are looking good so far, but getting softer. We will not be grooming this Wednesday or Thursday and this Saturday will be the final day of "weekend" grooming for the season. We will then resume Monday - Friday grooming as long as the weather permits.

Absolutely awesome conditions this morning - fast, smooth, level. I just had to post and send (another) shout-out to the grooming crew at SMF. They have given us perfectly groomed greatness all season long. Today was the best of the season yet-- temps were perfect (for once). I skated all the trails. The red and green were freshly groomed this morning and the blue, purple and yellow were groomed yesterday but had seen relatively light traffic (except for the usual hiker prints on the blue) which made for fast skiing with great control. We are so lucky to have this trail and a dedicated grooming daily. Thank you!

I have to leave a review today because the conditions were perfect! Today was hands down the best ski of the year for me and I am so happy I chose to ski here today because the trail was in amazing shape! The weather was perfect, the groom was perfect, the trails are perfect! Thanks Superior!

Skied the red trail twice and about half of the green. Freshly set and rolled trails. Met the groomer rerolling the red loop at one point. Another beautiful sunny brisk day. Temperature failed to get out of the single digits but very nice tracks. Tracks were mostly firm with a portion of the green still setting up that hadn't been skied in yet.

We skied the yellow trail today midday and it was absolutely beautiful scenery from the snow last night! The trail is in excellent shape and we talked to the groomer who will be making two passes tomorrow morning before the race making it even more spectacular! The yellow and purple along with the road to them will be closed from 6am to 3pm Sunday for the Stride, Ride, Glide Tri. The red and green trails will still be open and you can access them from 28th at the Millennium trailhead.

We just skied and marked the purple trail and then skied a bit of the yellow trail today and the course looks impeccable for Sunday! The purple trail had nice tracks, a slight bit soft in spots but they plan to continue grooming until Sunday morning. The skate deck on both were really firm and fresh! There is still time to sign up! Reminder that the purple and yellow trails will be closed for the Stride, Ride, Glide tri from 6am until 3pm on Sunday.
