Grooming Scheduling
[ Trails: Closed, Bare ground ]
Ski trails have taken a big hit and had a lot of rain on them. They are very soft and thin conditions right now and until we receive good measurable snow amounts grooming will have to pause. Even with cold temps forecasted the base is not there enough to allow for proper grooming without damage to the trails or equipment. Due to this, all trails are closed until further notice.

Skate skied the yellow trail. It was freshly groomed, the trail was in great condition considering the warm weather and lack of snow. Tree debris is avoidable. There's also a port-a-potty in the 42nd St parking lot. Great idea! Thanks!

All of the trails are freshly groomed for both classic and skate skiing. Trail conditions are good however thin in some spots throughout the forest and more specifically on the Outer Purple Trail.

I skied the advanced (Yellow) trail today. The trail was freshly groomed. In fact, I crossed paths with the groomer twice, while I was on the trail. The conditions were great, but a little soft in some areas, due to the 35 degree temperature. There was some debris on the trail (pine needles and pine cones) in the usual areas, but it didn’t interfere with the skiing. The trail was fast and fun! We definitely need more snow, I’m not sure how many more times the groomers can re-groom the same snow without affecting the trails.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Everything has been freshly groomed and classic track touched up throughout the trails. There are the normal thin spots in the thicker trees and the sun and warm temps have the skate deck soft. Grooming plans: Grooming will continue tomorrow and weekend grooming will take place Sunday this week. Starting this weekend, grooming will take place 6 days per week. Visit our website for more information on our trails and purchasing ski passes.

Very good conditions and grooming. One or two thin spots, easily avoided. Skied the red and green loops, and the yellow out to the end of Dwight’s Point.

Overall very nice conditions. All trails were groomed and tracked; and nice that the groomers got to the yellow and purple trails today though they are a bit soft. There was some debris and the usual thin spots.

Good to excellent for skate and classic. Thin base but full coverage, helped by the 1/2” of fluff that fell this morning. Red, blue, green, and the purple “loop” near 42nd street all well-groomed today with a new classic track set. Purple out to the yellow and the entire yellow don’t appear to have been groomed since last week. The classic track is fine on those trails but the skate deck could really benefit from fresh grooming, hopefully tomorrow.

Skated all the trails this morning. So-so conditions as they have not been groomed for a couple of days (a rarity at SMF as you can usually count on daily grooming). The green and red were a little better than the outer loops as the purple (including connector) and yellow were a little uneven. I didn't ski the blue- too many hikers using it. Coverage was good. There are a few thin areas in the usual spots but nothing unavoidable or ski damaging.
