Evening
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: Most, B skis ]
Skated most of green, red, blue, and inner purple. The skate deck is in pretty good shape, a bit rutted and still kind of soft. Some of the ravines are still a bit perilous, could use more snow. Most trails were tracked and the tracks looked to be in pretty good shape. Some leaf litter in a few spots. Pretty avoidable (I used my good skis without issues), but you might want to use B skis. Outer purple and yellow appear to not be groomed yet.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: Most, Good skis ]
Trails are beautifully groomed right now. Skate deck is soft but slippery, deep classic track set. Some debris on the trail, but just pine cones and small sticks. I used good skis without any issues. Most of the trails are groomed with track, except for the back loop of purple and the yellow trail.

Morning
Firsthand: Freestyle Secondhand
[ Trails Open: Most, B skis ]
Generally good conditions overall. A bit soft everywhere and thin in spots but very nicely groomed and tracked today. Classic tracks mostly full depth but into the pine needles and other duff here and there. The yellow trail and the part of the purple that heads south into the woods toward the yellow are ungroomed. The groomer I spoke with today said he’d work those areas Monday.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Good skis ]
The parts of the trail system we used (the trails marked blue and part of the trails marked red) had been rolled. The rolled trail had set but was still pretty soft. It was probably easier classic skiing than skating on it. For a bit of the red system I thought it appeared that there was a set track, but it was shallow, and I think it was actually just a skied-in track and not groomed. Nice day to be out in the Superior Municipal Forest. The trees still had their snow loads.

Trails are packed but not tracked for classic skiing. The trails are in great condition. Skied the red and green trails.

Evening
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: Most, B skis ]
Skied most of green and inner purple trails. Conditions were very soft and slow, but great that it was groomed after the recent snow. There was full coverage on everything we skied and good skis are probably OK. Conditions should be great once things firm up.

Afternoon
Observation
[ Trails: Closed ]
I biked the yellow trail all the way to the end of the point and back to see how things were. Looks like it will still need a lot of snow to get these trails ready for skiing. Where there is snow, it's only an inch or two deep but many bare spots exist in between the patches of snow on the trail. There's also one large birch tree across the left fork of the yellow trail as you head out to the point. The city will have to get out there and remove it before anyone can groom.
