Firsthand: Classic [
] |
With a day off from working Nationals we took time for a classic on some of the best single track in the Midwest. This is the real deal as a hand crafted retro look at the skiing world as it should be. I get the FIS “D” courses, super wide for FS passing, or perhaps both techniques for the tour days, but nothing speaks to my soul like a best line single track, and this was absolutely perfect. With 15 or so K set into a uphill, rolly flat, and “come on down” section, you get a great slice of Keweenaw terrain to revive your sprit. When the woods come in close, Nordic skiing changes. Get there fast, with 140” currently you’d think it would last forever, but aside from being Chief of Competition at Nationals, Jim T., bless his soul, may not groom forever.
