With the spring like conditions, grooming has been suspended and the trail will be closed until we get new snow that we can mix in to make the trail safe. Thank you for your patience.

Checked out the Chassell trail for the first time based on Ken's enthusiastic report. We arrived to find about 6" of new, very light snow in the parking lot and freshly groomed trails. Trails were fantastic. The layout makes great use of the terrain to make for trails that are technically interesting yet very skiable. Definitely will be back.

Fresh track and sunny. Skis find a sweet glide rhythm. Humming and purring. A bucket list trail.

With a day off from working Nationals we took time for a classic on some of the best single track in the Midwest. This is the real deal as a hand crafted retro look at the skiing world as it should be. I get the FIS “D” courses, super wide for FS passing, or perhaps both techniques for the tour days, but nothing speaks to my soul like a best line single track, and this was absolutely perfect. With 15 or so K set into a uphill, rolly flat, and “come on down” section, you get a great slice of Keweenaw terrain to revive your sprit. When the woods come in close, Nordic skiing changes. Get there fast, with 140” currently you’d think it would last forever, but aside from being Chief of Competition at Nationals, Jim T., bless his soul, may not groom forever.
