Itasca still has a ton of snow. 1 inch of fluff fell over night, giving us better grip and covered up the forest trash. Trail was not groomed today but tracks were adequate. Areas were the sun was allowed, tracks were icy, but overall, a good ski. We skied on the bike trail leaving the visitor's center. Very quiet at Itasca on a late Sunday afternoon, saw only two people on the way out on the trail, then saw a group of six women on our way back to the center.

Skied yesterday on the Ozawindib and back on the skate trail. All was freshly groomed, tracks set, soft snow. This morning we skied some of the bike path. 1 -2" new snow fell overnight. There was no new grooming but I did see the groomer went out somewhere. It's cold. I used some "new snow" wax. It was too sticky.

Skied Classic trails at Itasca SP the last two days. The groomer had just finished combing and setting tracks on the full length of the bike trail! Outstanding skiing! Friday we skied the South Entrance Road, Ozawindib, Myrtle Lake Crossover and half of Deer Park down the road to Mary Lake. Deep snow, deep tracks, excellent snow! A winter wonderland! Snowshoe or ski their new Twinkle Trail at night, awesome!

Trails haven’t been set in several days but still very skiable, especially with a few skiers having broke thru the recent inch of fresh snow. Ozawindib, crossover, red pine and south entrance were all decent. Bike trail looked good too but didn’t ski too far down it. Deer Park was packed but several inches of fresh snow on top made it an adventure; followed the tracks of a couple others who were adventurous enough to break trail. Most of the rest of the trails not groomed.

I skied the bike trail from Brower visitor center toward the headwaters. At Leary, the first part of that was in fine shape, double tracked for classic and good base.

One of the most scenic and historic trails in Minnesota is always a thrill. Skied the 9 mile loop from the visitor center to the Mississippi River headwaters and back. Trail in great shape. Shallow in some areas, ski tips hit bottom, but ski tracks were nearly flawless. Kudos to long time groomer Kenny.
