Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Snow depth over 12" with a 3" or more packed base, 1" new. All trails are in generally good condition, although there are spots on Lake and Lilly's with some twigs poking through. Eagle is excellent for skating, and grooming with a redone classic track was underway as we were skiing today. Snowshoe trails are also flagged and have good snow coverage. Interesting to see all of the other tracks on the trail: deer, coyotes (including a small kill), and on part of Eagle, there have been some big-boy wolf tracks!

Trails are groomed and tracked. Lots of activity. Trails are beautiful. Trails include Eagle, Lilly's, Troll, Lake. Hoping for more snow to provide a deeper base. Several snow shoe trails are also open for use.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
The groomers set classic tracks after recent snow, so conditions should be good for the weekend. We had over 6" new snow last Sunday, 1 - 2" last night with snow still falling. Snowshoe trail looking better, with snow now covering some debris from thinning out a dense stand of planted red pine.

Skate trail is firm, very fun but twiggy, especially Lily's and Lake. Not enough snow for classic tracks, so that's DIY.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Rock skis ]
Fair conditions, with spots of pretty heavy grass and twigs poking through on Lily's . It was rolled and packed for a second time today and they set classic tracks on Eagle. Still very skiable and skating should be firm now. Beautiful weather makes up for it! Snowshoe trails marked and reset today, another dimension to this area.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Ski season has begun at Soaring Eagle! Trails were all rolled and packed Sunday, with about 10" new snow over the weekend. With a 2-3" base, the trails are ok for skating, a little soft and extra effort of course. Some grass, weeds, twigs are poking through, and there isn't enough snow yet for grooming a classic track. Some classic skiers have cut a track along one edge, especially on Eagle. Conditions are generally ski-friendly, but you'll want to use your older skis for now. We will have snowshoes available soon, although the snowshoe trails will need to be remarked and moved around a bit, due to extensive thinning in the red pine stand, with a number of long slash rows left behind.

The warming house is open. Potty Shack has been delivered and the parking lot is plowed. Trails have been rolled and packed, not tracked. We could use more snow, some grass sticking through. Several skiers out today, mostly skaters.
