Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic Secondhand
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Skied the shortcuts. Conditions were cold and slow. Paul (groomer) was out grooming the east side. He said he would be back out tomorrow morning to finish grooming and setting track. The trails look great.

In spite of the cold and wind the trails were very good. Skate lane was faster then yesterday. Starting to snow as I left.

Trails were groomed and being groomed again this afternoon, the latter for setting the classical tracks. We found it pretty slow going for skating given that it was just barely above 0F, more so for me as I just haven't had it the last two times out. A few short stretches were a bit faster. Overall the skate deck was firm with about an inch of new, cold, and dry snow making the corduroy. Classical tracks appeared pretty good from what I observed.

Cold and slow. The skate lane was freshly groomed since the wind and snow yesterday. Fantastic skate deck. Classic track is old but good in most areas, drifting and grooming have covered track in a few open areas.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Skate deck in places has up to 1-2 inches of new snow - possibly mixed with hoar frost - over firm corduroy. In other places corduroy is showing. Skiing today seemed bimodal. Some stretches skied reasonably, but not super fast and in others slow. We thought the hoar frost gave the speed. Classical tracks look good where exposed. Back to good skis as the new snow has covered a lot of the debris, but there remain a few dirty spots.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
2" to 4" of new snow. All the trails were groomed by 2:30. Track was still a little soft. Everything looked great. Should set up great for skate or classic.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Once again, trail conditions remain essentially the same as reported over the last several days. The bottom-line is that skating is still good, classical tracks are well-defined and reasonable deep, but more leaves and sticks are being deposited and/or appearing on the trails.

Skate deck is hard with some corduroy, and pretty good in most places. The deck is somewhat icier in a few of the open places where yesterday's sun was able to minimally melt the snow. Classical tracks still in really good shape.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Both
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Arriving about 2:30 trails were being groomed post yesterday's race. Initially I was skating on a very hard packed deck and had some difficulty setting an edge. I then decided to just double pole in the tracks that, apart from the occasional leaf or twig, were in very good shape. Finished-up with minimal skating on newly groomed sections that skied much better. Should be fine for tomorrow.

We finished up as the high, junior high school races were to begin. Conditions were mostly good for skating. New grooming was limited to classical tracks over the race course(s). Hoar frost down on the trail improved some sections that were getting hard and icy. Classical tracks were very good where we double-poled, if a tad slow. B skis, but better could probably be used depending on where you go.
