Trail Reports

2022-2023 season
Reports 30 to 39 of 81    Month: Apr | Mar | Feb | Jan | Dec | Nov

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Good skis ]
Beautiful, warmer weather. Trails in places continue to have leaf litter and (in fewer) places pine needle litter. The classic trail required leaving track at times to avoid litter. In other places, track was clean, making for excellent glide. Classic track eroded in some sections.

Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
First time skiing on Andes xc ski trails. Very nice trail system. Plenty of snow and very good grooming for both skate and classic. Unfortunately, lots of leaf litter, some twigs, and pine needles in various sections, so hopped out of tracks many times.

Morning
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
As of this morning there has been little skier traffic and plenty of corduroy showing. However, the trails today, as in days past, have seen lots of deer making rough patches. Also, recent high winds left a fair amount of leafs and twig litter. The latter might be more problematic for classical skiers.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Skate deck newly groomed, about 1 to 1.5 inches soft newer snow over firmer base. Little skier traffic, but the deer have been very active so some sections of the trails can be rather rough. I found the snow to be slow even though the air temperature was 14F.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
All trails have the skate lane groomed. They have had very little use due to the cold. Skate lane was very slow. Classic track had not been set on all the trails. The track that has been set looks very nice.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Trails were freshly groomed. The skate lane was soft and slow. Most of the trails have new classic track that set very nicely.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Marc the groomer was finishing up as I arrived, so trails had pristine corduroy over a firm deck. Colder temperature led to slower, but not slow skiing. Coverage remains excellent, with little in the way of debris littering the trails despite windy conditions as of late.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Regroomed the skating deck. Touched up the classic track on finland because of drifting. The rest of the track is skiable with a dusting of powder in the track. Alot of deer on the trail. Look for them in the pines and sumac.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
About 1/2 to 1 inch of new hoar frost (maybe some snow) over a very hard skate deck. The underlying deck is a tad softer in a few places. Moderately but not super fast. Overall very good conditions.

Morning
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Newly groomed. Skate deck was very firm this morning and slightly glazed making for fast skiing. Did some double-poling in the tracks that are in very good shape, and they seemed equally fast.
