Evening
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Excellent skating Monday evening. Skate lane had been groomed earlier and it made a perfect fast skate surface of a little bit of soft old snow over a hard base. Classic track is a few day old and a bit glazed, but not totally ice. Several short sections with thin snow coverage. Brainerd High School team and Brainerd Nordic Ski Club will be shoveling snow Tuesday and again later in the week to cover the thin spots for a school race Thursday and the Lumberjack Jaunt Sunday. Northstar trails were not groomed recently so they are probably a bit harder and glazed.

A great ski Friday afternoon. I expected the trails to slushy and the tracks to be worn down, but except where walkers have crushed the classic trails, the snow conditions and tracks were very good. Thank you groomers!

Today was great, especially considering the amount of snow we've had. Full coverage now and track is in good shape almost everywhere. Conditions were fast today, fastest for me this year to date.

Afternoon

[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Trails packed and tracked Monday after 3 inches on Sunday. Snow depth on trails about 5 inches with the upper half packed powder and the bottom half very hardpacked and slightly transformed snow. About 7 inches in the woods. A very few areas with dirty snow, the only real bad area is by the two lone trees at the southwest edge of the start field. Classic track often set down into the hardpack/transformed base with more dirt areas than the skate deck.

Reported by the Alexandria Nordic ski club: The ski trail is in good condition to excel. A little slow due to the new light snow. No open dirt spots.

Four inches of new snow. All Arboretum trails have been rolled. No set classical tracks yet. West side of facility and open areas are experiencing blowing snow.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Trails hard-packed (but a little softer today with the warmer temps) with some thin areas. Northstar trails general less good than the closer trails. From the Arb trailhead to the field is the worst for hard surface. Still not enough for tracks yet.

Trails rolled Thursday morning after 3 to 4 inches of fluffy snow. Mostly good coverage now, but some thin areas or dirt mixed into surface of trail. No tracks set yet, but classic skiing was fine. Some soft areas.
