Lots and lots of snow! With the new snow last night it was pretty soft and slow but I'm not complaining. It was beautiful out there. Will be tons of fun when it hardens up.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
We are in a winter storm again and are forecasted to more snow today. At 9 am we are out grooming -- rolling the new snow, but we won't be able to set new classical tracks until snow stops and sets. Scenery is wonderful. Hardest part of the day will be getting into the lot as the city roads are sloppy and waiting to be plowed.
Reminder that you must have your MN Ski Pass to use this trail system. Parking passes are required and paid to the Arb. The Visitor Center will be open until Noon on New Years Eve, and closed on New Years Day. Parking passes are available in the self-pay kiosk.

Firsthand: Classic

Trails look great for only having had one real snowfall of the year so far! A couple of barely thin spots, a few leaves peaking through, but the snow is perfect and can only get better!

The new snow is settling in. We are grooming after today's big races -- 500+ high school skiers really packed the snow down. Unfortunately, some folks decided to walk in the middle of the trails to see the race -- we are busy filling in footprints. Ugh! Classical tracks are set. Snow is good.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
We are rolling/grooming. Good snow coverage with a few thin spots especially on Potlach and Big Ben trails. Hoping to set classic tracks by late afternoon.
Reminder: Junior High Ski practice this afternoon -- 70 of the nicest Middle school kids ever. Saturday, Dec 29 we host a High school ski meet with over 500 racers (Not open public skiing until 4 pm or so).

At least 6 inches of fresh snow! Trails were rolled. A bit sticky, but a winterwonderland afternoon for first ski of the season.

Grooming Scheduling
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
It's snowing! We have rolled all the trails once by noon. Planning on rolling again this afternoon if it continues to keep snowing. We got 4 to 6 inches this morning and it's still falling! Hallelujah! Make sure you have your MN Ski Pass and if you are not an Arb member, park down in the DNR lower lot.
Note: High school team to practice this afternoon and Jr high team here on Friday. Hosting a High School Ski meet on Saturday morning. You have been warned -- don't expect to ski the course on Saturday morning. (Hundreds of high school skiers!).

Observation
[ Trails: Closed ]
Great day for a walk at the Arb, but not the best conditions for skiing. Someone brought their rockiest rock skis out today, but the snow is about three leaves thick.

Sigh . . . don't even bother to bring your skis to Brainerd for Christmas. Bare, brown ground.
