Perfect trail conditions, spring skiing for sure. Deep tracks and fresh corduroy, new snow, looked like they groomed this morning. Started to get sticky by mid day. Beautiful scenery!

Conditions were nice! Did the easiest loops (duck and piece of cake). Not too fast (except the last hill coming down to the parking lot). Some skate track was groomed, not all. Hardly any debris that I saw. It was better than expected!

We skied the Oberg Mountain loop just after noon. It was a beautiful day in the woods, even if melty. The trail hadn't been groomed since Friday but tracks were solid. Some sticks and debris, especially for skaters. My partners' skate poles kept punching through the deck. There's still about 2 feet of snow on the ground.

Skied in the afternoon prior to the sun setting after a morning of skiing at Giants Ridge. I planned to skate ski and actually needed to ski a combination in the tracks and in the skate lane due to the melting snow and a change in the conditions. I cleared the trail only due to six smaller branches noted on the trail intermittently. It is truly a beautiful area. Embrace winter to spring-like skiing.

Skied the Picnic Loop on mohair classic skis. Given the rain overnight and warmer temps, I was a bit skeptical going in but was surprised by how enjoyable the trails were. Seemed like a fresh 1 inch on lower trails and closer to 3 inches on upper trails. No new grooming Saturday. Slow conditions overall. Did see one guy skate the Picnic. Talked to him and he was hurting. Probably needs a new groom for skates, or eat your Wheaties. Along with a few other hardy souls, we broke good classic tracks and removed a lot of the bigger sticks. There was a bit of sticking underfoot around 3 pm during peak sun. And some ice in lower elevation areas with heavy traffic. A healthy amount of downed sticks from the last windstorm warrants the rock ski rating, though I had my best skis on. Bottom line-variable conditions, but very skiable and fun.

Perfect conditions Sunday afternoon/evening at Sugarbush! The system has been re-groomed since Saturday, removing all the debris from Friday night's winds. Tracks were clear and the deck was firm; snow was responsive and fast.

First timer on the Sugarbush trails! Skied the Onion trail and did the small green loop back. W to X and M to L lots of debris, classic tracks would have been tough to deal with. Took a little tour of Homestead loop connector L to K. One tree down so had to climb over that. Less debris on a good portion of the track compared to the loop and it was a lot of fun and just super peaceful out there.

Skied Maple loop from Moose Fence trailhead around 7 am. Glide was slow to start with it being cold and a dusting of new snow, but got faster as the sun hit the trail. Fallen branches everywhere, and litter on trail was unavoidable for most of the Maple Loop. Hardly bothered me, though, since I had some B skis. Didn't bother the dog at all.

Skied partial picnic loop from L to M to L to K and back. Trails are icy and are covered with branches, pine cones and bark from the high winds yesterday. Traditional tracks are almost impossible to ski for all the debris in the tracks. I ended up skiing most of the way on the skate deck. The trail is better when in the hardwoods, but very bad in the stretches of spruce forest. Still gorgeous and fun tho!
