Skated Oberg Loop, the connector from W to J, Homestead Loop, and return to Oberg trail head. Skate deck was firm, hard packed old corduroy (around 1/3 of total trail distance) covered by up to 1 inch light snow (about 2/3) with some deeper drifts in spots. Minimal debris on the trail. Classic tracks were in pretty good shape. Connector from L to K had been recently rolled but not set up yet. Cold temps made fresh snow squeaky and somewhat slow but overall a nice day to be out.

There was about a half-inch of new, dry snow that fell on the trail last night. Encountered drifting over the trail on the picnic loop in a few places, a couple of spots were getting pretty deep. Besides the drifting, the trails were in great shape.

Cold (3-5F) but no wind, great sun and phenomenal ski conditions on the Sugar Lake Trail system. As always, the groomers deliver the goods after the 5” of snow and strong winds this week in Tofte and the North Shore. The classic tracks were deep and squeaky, the skate deck also excellent. My daughter and I, up from the Twin Cities this week, felt the endorphin rush in the woods and on the trails. We focused on all the Moose Fence trails today, will hit Britton Peak and Oberg Mt tomorrow. Thanks groomers!

Skied from Britton Peak Trailhead around Hogback Loop and return. Tracks are nicely set after yesterday's storm but many portions are partly or occasionally completely filled with windblown snow. Beautiful corduroy on the skate deck with some drifting. Many thanks to the groomer for getting the trail groomed so quickly after the snow!

A beautiful afternoon at the Moosetrack Trailhead. Took the Upland trail. Had not been groomed for a few days but the tracks were still good. A great base. Total silence with no wind. Great conditions. The calm before the storm.

Started striding at the Britten Peak Trail head. The snow was coming down in huge flakes covering the nicely groomed trails. The snow wasn't hindering conditions at all. Enjoyed the Wood Duck Loop, onto the Hogback Loop. Beautiful ridges thru the whole trail system with overlooks onto Lake Superior thru the trees. Will return.

Skied the full loop from Briton Peak trailhead -Piece of cake, Hogback, Picnic, East Oberg, Connector, Homestead, Hog back and back. All trails fantastic with excellent grooming, firm track, firm deck. A few woods side pole plunges, an artifact of an abundance of snow. Should be a fabulous weekend as temps warm.

Overall the trails are in good shape! There are a few spots where drifts have partially or completely taken over the trail on Picnic and Hogback. Otherwise, things are setting up nicely. The skate deck was pretty firm and getting faster with the warmer temps.

Did a short loop (Oberg) on way up to Cascade. Well groomed, some debris but mostly very clean and in great shape. Lovely afternoon.

I started from the Moose Fence Trailhead. It was good to have a nice groomed track after breaking trail in fresh snow last Saturday. I skied the Maple Loop and took the connector to N at the Picnic Loop intersection, then turned around and skied the Upland Loop on way back. Grooming and trackset were all good. There is plenty of snow and no bare spots, though quite a bit of needles blew off in the pines. They were soft and caused no problems to my skiing though.
