8-10" of new snow from Monday had been recently groomed. I skied the Oberg loop and the skate deck was very soft and slow -- I wish I had classic skied. Gorgeous trails and a great ski through the woods!

Oberg trailhead parking, L, K, J, I, D, C, B, A, T, Tofte. Packed skate deck; slick classic tracks. Rain/refreeze nicely groomed. Fast! Caution on two downhills between J and I as rain cut deep trenches across trail in two locations. Could easily cause hard crash.

From Oberg trailhead, Classic skied the Picnic Loop, half of Hogback, Homestead, and Connector back to Oberg. Skins did not work on the glazed track so I switched to fish scale Crowns and that was much better. Picnic ridge conditions were better than the more heavily used hogback and homestead loops, but generally I had to exit the track for uphills and leave one ski out for many of the downhills as everything was very fast. Coverage is good, tracks and deck very firm and hard. Looking forward to the return of winter tomorrow!

From Britton Peak trailhead, I did an out-and-back to N (Picnic). West Hogback (E/O) and Picnic (O/N) had been regroomed and were excellent, particularly given the challenging weather. Kudos to the outstanding grooming! Trackset was fast and in a few places not quite as well-defined as usual, which added some difficulty for staying in the tracks around some of the curves. The south-facing hills on Picnic seemed a bit faster than the others, but for all of them, there was sufficient give to maintain good control. The lower trailhead to A segment has substantial debris in the tracks (catching on my skin skis), but that was really the only segment that I encountered any difficulty (and it had not been regroomed). The most difficult conditions can be found in the parking area, which is covered in ice and can be fairly slippery, so please exercise caution. The other disappointment: those tracks on Picnic are not wolf tracks, but from a dog which was on the trail (unleashed) with a couple of people who were out skiing.

Skied Wood Duck/Piece of Cake loops along with Hogback and Homestead loops. The corduroy was very firm and the grooves could catch the skis especially on downhills. Classic tracks appeared set on all of these loops. There was a washout/ icy spot at the bottom of a hill on the lake side of the Homestead Loop otherwise everything was clear and well groomed. Across the highway, the Tofte return trail was softer and fast - a really fun ski back into town.

Skied from moose fence up to picnic ridge and then did a clockwise picnic loop via west oberg, upper homestead, and the east side of hogback. Moose fence and picnic ridge were mostly lacking a classic track (latest grooming report cites a mechanical issue with the PB), but the skate deck was fantastic -- fast, very little ice, no bare spots, and feeling extra wide without the classic track. The sections that were groomed yesterday were generally good skiing as well, with the minor inconvenience of extra firm corduroy occasionally grabbing your skis. The only sketchy spot I saw today was on west oberg, where overflow covers nearly the full width of the trail in one spot, but you'll see it coming and be able to step around it. Yesterday I hit a few of the trails I didn't see today, and would also urge some caution on east oberg between the snowmobile trail crossings, as the deck has some weird dips and possible soft spots in it. Otherwise great skiing and a 10 out of 10 rating for the groomers.

Beautiful day to ski the picnic loop. Blue skies with temps in the 20's. The tracks were firm but not icy and recently set. There was a tree across the lower picnic loop between points K and L otherwise the trail was immaculate. The picnic loop is a real treat to ski. It is a 25 km wilderness trail with PistenBully grooming and great vistas of the Sawtooth Mountains and Lake Superior. I always try to get up here a few times before the Birkebeiner!

Temps were 32-34 degrees on the Onion river road and the Oberg Loop while I skate skied between 11-12:30. Recent 3-4 inches of fluff snow was all groomed that morning. Fabulous ski, with sunshine and zero wind! I did not see another skier! So fun for this beginner skater.

We skied Wood Duck Loop, Piece of Cake Loop, Bridge Run, segment J to K to L, and Homestead Loop. The trails were freshly groomed. The snow was softening in the sun, but was holding up well. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We noticed the classic tracks looked fantastic too. Thank you Sugarbush Trail Association for one of the best days of this winter.

As good as it gets. Perfect temps (high teens), great base, tracks were excellent, and the snow was relatively fresh and fast (for me). No icy patches or tracks covered with drifting snow. We started at Onion River parking lot. My wife skied the L,M, X, W part of the Oberg loop. I split off from her at X and skied the Y, W parts as well.
