Another beautiful day at Sugarbush after grooming last night, fast and fun. Hoarfrost at the higher elevations, extremely scenic. It's clear that the crew had quite a cleanup job after the storm, and at this point the only sign on the trail itself is the occasional spot of pine needles. A few human-shaped divots out there, easy to avoid if you pay attention (try not to get too preoccupied looking at the scenery). Base is just a little punchy in places too.

All of the loops I skied had nice deep tracks, including the picnic loop. Skate deck also looked excellent. Some of the best skiing conditions I've had this winter!

Grooming was fantastic for both skate and classic, with deep perfect tracks and smooth firm deck. We skied several of the loops from the Britton Peak trailhead, including Wood Duck, Bridge Run, and Homestead. Several other trail systems along the North Shore have large sections still closed due to fallen trees and branches from previous storms. But we saw no blockages or trail debris at Sugarbush. The trail stewards/groomers have done an awesome job!

Low teens to single digit temps last night set up the freshly groomed trails perfectly. The tracks and skate lanes are firm. What a joy to ski a short jaunt this morning before the busy day to carry a smile thru the day and look forward to more fun on the trails!

28 degrees and one-half inch fresh snow at 11 am at Onion River parking lot. Onion River Road and Oberg Loop skate deck freshly rolled. We were first to ski classic tracks. Lovely ski.

Great grooming, great trail. Firm and fairly fast condition made for a great ski. Track was solid, skating lane was great when you wanted to bail out of the tracks and slow down. Descents were easy to control. One of the best trails anywhere. Lynx were using the trails as well.

In the morning I started at Britton parking lot and skied the Homestead loop. Good track, fast downhill but had a little trouble on the up hills. Then I drove to the Onion River parking lot and skied Oberg. Found good tracks but someone walked the skate lane for a few miles. From the Oberg I skied to the end of the Onion River. Tracks had the usual pine and fir needles and a few pine cones but didn't cause any issues. It was a great day skiing on the Sugarbush system. Thank you donors and groomers.

Onion River Road has good, firm double track to end of road. There is old pine needles mixed in the packed snow, but nothing abrasive and didn't bother my glide or stick to kick wax. Connector to M going west is similar.

Pleased to see the groomer was out today to deal with the warm wet snow from New Years Eve! Nice new cord on the Onion River Road and the Oberg Loop. Looked like the groomer has also started on the Picnic loop and was out on the system somewhere. Orr and Oberg were in great shape, but the water holes on Oberg are still there between the snowmobile trail crossings. Stay in or close to the classic track to avoid.

New snow of 1.5 inches over Saturday's great grooming was not a problem. Skaters reported good glide and VR45 kick wax worked much better than skins. We classic skied around the Picnic loop from Britton Peak in temps just above freezing. Might be slick if it gets colder.
