Grooming
[ Trails Open: Most, Good skis ]
What a difference a day makes. Yesterday morning our trails were saturated with water but then the temperature dropped steadily through the day and we received around 3 inches of cold dry snow overnight. The mid teens temps dried things out and we were able to groom things up very nicely this morning. Lots of happy skiers! All trails are open except for H. Did not groom I today as it did not fit into the grooming sequence today. I will catch that in the morning.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Most, B skis ]
Groomed in the 2 inches of fresh snow that fell yesterday and set a nice track on all open trails. H remains as the only trail not open. Skate lanes set up nicely overnight and are skiing quite fast today with the light snow overnight. Lodge is still closed due to the government shut down but the outside fire pit is always going and there is hot cocoa and cookies!

Firsthand: Both
[ Trails Open: Most, Good skis ]
Valley Spur received some 2" of snow overnight and with a fresh grooming in the morning, the trails looked as spectacular as the surrounding trees. They were a little soft though, especially the skate deck. Also, the lodge is closed due to the government shutdown, although they had a fire going in front with cookies and water on the table for the visitors, and the rentals and restroom were open.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Most, B skis ]
We received as much as 2 inches of snow overnight. It was the type of snow that made for challenging grooming but we were able to groom up A, B, C, D, X, Y and W very nicely. Great classic tracks and the skate lanes remain excellent as well. Will have the big hill loops G and Z open in the morning.

Skied classical A, C, D, Y and W two days ago and conditions were great. Monday skated in the morning and did laps on A. Some leaves in the classic tracks. Otherwise conditions great. Super grooming!

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Most, B skis ]
Temps yesterday stayed right around freezing so the trails remain in really good shape. We did get some high winds Sunday night into Monday that left some debris on the trails, twigs, leaves some pine needles so watch for that. Groomed the two Heavens Monday morning so with light traffic everything is good to go for Tuesday.

Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
First time at Valley Spur. Very nice trail system with a great mix of flat and hilly terrain. Conditions were very good, could have used my A skis; any trail dirt is easily avoidable. Felt like skiing in March, warm temps, somewhat transformed snow, and blue skies. Well worth the trip!

Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
I classic skied the A, B, C, D, G and Z loops. Excellent skiing. Full coverage on the trails. Tracks are well formed and deep. Downhills are firm and fast but not icy. A lot of fun. Skaters are smiling too. With warmer temperatures, the snow softens somewhat in the afternoon but hardens nicely overnight. Should be great skiing for a while.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Most, B skis ]
Very nice skiing conditions at Valley Spur this morning. Skating is excellent while the classic tracks are holding up well but are hard and fast until it starts to warm a bit. We are in a freeze/thaw cycle but the low angle of the sun and cold overnight temps are keeping the trails virtually unscathed.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Most, B skis ]
Received just a light dusting of snow overnight that freshened up the classic tracks. All trails except for H are now open. Packed, dragged and set tracks on last section of G, I and Z this morning. Z is still pretty rough but G and I are pretty good. Starting to sound like a broken record but we need some fresh snow!
