Another nice spring day of skiing at Greenbush. The skate track was groomed again this morning. I skied the brown and purple loop twice. Very enjoyable.

Freshly groomed trails this morning. Skied the purple loop, about 85% very good to excellent, solid base with fresh top groomed. The remaining 15% were icy patches with only one bare spot that groomer filled in. Worth the trip, nice to still be able to ski on real snow! One of the best scenic trails to ski on, in my opinion.

Jeff groomed all the trails this morning. I skate skied the purple, red, pink and brown. They are all skiable, but the 5 mile purple is the best. It has the least icy spots and no bare areas. Jeff patched the only bare spot that was under the wires. There are areas where the classic track is good but there are more areas that have no classic track or it's too icy to use.

All trails were groomed this morning with some pretty good sections of track laid down. If you skied here this year, and appreciated it, join the ski club or make a donation.

All trails were groomed this morning except for a portion of the green loop where grooming equipment became stuck spinning on ice yesterday. The skate decks were firm today and much faster than yesterday. There are a few hot spots developing in sun exposed areas near the power line crossings. Photos show the best and worst of conditions.

Thanks to the Greenbush Grooming Team for the efforts on the trails after Monday's snowfall! Skied from the picnic area on the Red out to the Green/Purple connector and then skied Purple all the way back, only cutting out the first set of pines. One portage spot where there was 100% bare ground when crossing the power lines. Other than that, had nice flat trails with good coverage and minimal debris. Underneath is a hard thick layer of ice and heavy push offs did hit bottom in certain areas. Managed two full loops in about an hour and enjoyed every minute.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Most, B skis ]
Most of the system was groomed this morning. Difficult to put in track due to underlying ice. A fair amount of debris due to this weekends wind. Generally, a decent skiing experience. Jeff rolled the system yesterday, making it groomable today. Be careful out there.

Mike reported to me that he was grooming this morning. He made multiple passes of Brown and Beginner Loop skate decks. Those are in the best shape. He also groomed the outer loops and reported that they are marginal as there are a number of gray ice spots. Our youth team will be conducting its last practice tonight, but will be staying on the Brown and Beginner Loops.

I was at Greenbush a little after 9 am this morning and began my ski at the picnic area. I hadn't progressed too far down the trail when I realized it wasn't safe for me to ski. The trail was covered with snow but it was hard and I was unable to get an edge on my skate skis. I double poled for the majority of my time. There were icy spots in the short section I was on but it was mainly hard snow. I drove down to the group camping parking lot to see how it was there. It was pretty much the same as the picnic area. It might have been skiable for me if I had hit the sweet spot where the snow gets warm enough and starts to soften-up. I didn't today. My car thermometer said it was 35 degrees.

Snow cover remains very good on Greenbush ski trails although the warm sun is causing some loss in the usual hot spots. Skating was slow and sticky on climbs. The classic track is glazed and fast for the most part with some areas of slush.
