Trail Reports

2021-2022 season
Reports 75 to 84 of 88    Month: Mar | Feb | Jan | Dec
Saturday, January 8, 2022
Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Conditions were good but not great. Safe for good skis but the trails were beat up. I skied the purple loop and the classic tracks were obliterated on most of the trail. The Brown loop was in better condition but getting heavily used.

Morning
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
No additional grooming was done since yesterday. The classic track is fast and firm in areas where set track is possible. The skate deck is more firm and fast than yesterday. Snow temperatures should stay well below air temps today.

Trails were ok. Good snow cover on skate lanes. Not the smoothest deck but certainly skiable. Need more snow!

Beautiful morning skate skiing. Skied brown and purple. Great grooming, beautiful conditions, but disappointing to see how many boot tracks there were. Someone very clearly walked their dog all over the purple trail. Hoping this isn’t an ongoing issue all winter!

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
All loops and cutoffs were groomed this morning. Track was set where possible. Despite more than two days of steady light snow our snow pack has us not far above the sticks and leaves. Most areas are tracked for classic skiing which should be good for the next several days.

Evening
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
I skied all loops several hours after grooming by head groomer Jeff Welsch. It snowed an inch or two after grooming. The greater than forecast snow along with grooming efforts have provided a smoother skate deck which is still soft but firming up nicely. Plans are to groom and hopefully track tomorrow morning.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
All loops and cutoffs were rolled Wednesday afternoon. Grooming plans: Trails are being rolled again Thursday afternoon. Classic tracks are not set. Hopefully we can groom and track Friday morning. The rolling is working well to even out firm up the base.

Classic skied the Green Trail. No tracks, some debris, but enough snow to ski on. Hopefully we get some snow!

Enjoyable New Years Day outing on all trails fully covered by a couple inches of rolled snow. Not enough to track. I had several successful conversations with hikers to redirect them to snow shoe trails or ice age trail.
