It’s worth skiing today. Not ideal conditions but on March 29, we take what we can get. The dog and I skijored the north loop trails during the morning snowfall. Trails had about 3-4” of fresh, wet snow and we were the first through the trails. It was sticky, wet, soft snow around 11am with no bare spots. My technique was more snowshoeing than skiing at times. The dog actually helped pull me on the downhills, which was a first.

Good slush skiing, and we had no problem social distancing, as there was not another human in sight and there were no other cars in the lot. We skied Bear Paw and Blue Ox and a bit of the lake. There's still lots of mushy snow on the trails. The lake has gotten pretty wet.

A couple of inches of lovely fluffy snow on top of a crispy base. We mostly skied on the lake, not the trails, but did do a loop on Bear Paw. Really nice skate conditions. The classic track was pretty well buried. Not one car in the parking lot. Snowing hard when we left at noon.

Classic tracks Blue Ox and Bear Paw were shallow to nonexistent. Very fast and icy which made some turns treacherous in my classical skis. Skate deck looked solid. Disappointing seeing four champagne bottles stuck on branches deep in the trails. One was broken. Fortunately the glass is off the track. Typical late season conditions with many needles, twigs, leaves and grouse feathers melting deep into the trails.

Boulder was like concrete today! With all the great reports and pictures I saw yesterday, we thought it would be in good condition. We skated and classic skied Bear Paw and Blue Ox...found out an event there yesterday with 50 people who skied 50k and pretty much turned it all into concrete with barely an edge. They also left some wine bottles up in the trees on branches and some deep footprints were along the Bear Paw trail most of the way. Fast, icy in spots, we would have gone elsewhere had we known of the "party" there yesterday.

Marvelous conditions. Best hour of my day! I'd say skip classic, and stick to skate skiing. Trails were firm and fast. Amazing glide. Boulder Lake shared a couple pics of bare ground from the Nine Pine trail, but it's a non-issue confined to a small area far out, easily avoided. The few skiers I came across all had dogs, blissfully running unaware of the world's problems. Amazing day. If this was my last ski of the season, I'm sure glad I made the drive. Cheers!

Concrete. Classic tracks looked old and melted, pretty shallow and icy. We skated, and that wasn't the best ski of the year but was definitely better than not skiing. Where was everybody?

Got out here around 11 today and the snow was rock hard and basically unskiable. Someone also had drove their truck onto the trails which caused me to pack up and leave. I think skiing may be done for the year here. The groomer has done a great job here all season, can’t give them enough thanks for the wonderful conditions they provided.

Got to Boulder early, just as temp getting up to freezing. Unbelievably good skiing and grooming, first classic (Fischer Zeros) and then skate. Pictures again tell the story. Thursday's 2 or 3 inches of new snow and cooler temps until today made a big difference. By the time I left just before noon it was getting soft in the sun (about 40 F), and places with shadows and then sun could be a challenge. I was glad I remembered to put in some structure. I poked my 160cm classic poles into the snow in the woods at several places and they went in over half way.

We arrived at noon on Wednesday just as it got up to the freezing mark. Still a couple feet of snow in the woods. Skate lanes had been groomed yesterday, and there were some ruts in a number of places, but they did not bother us much. Both right and left sides of the skate lane were good and quite fast when the middle had ruts. And most of the trail had no ruts. Classic tracks were nice and deep, and not too icy. I hopped in them on a few downhills and they were nice, but actually the fresh cord on the sides of the trails was even faster. By 1:30 PM a few spots in open sun were getting soft but still not too slow. The pictures show how great it was to be on natural snow on a gorgeous sunny March day.
