Morning
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Skied the blue (less the black diamond at the end). Tracks are decent, except in the pines where they are mostly bare. I also skied the orange, white and brown and they were mostly good to fair. To state the obvious, they need a few more inches of snow to set better tracks. All in all, worth the drive from IL. I would absolutely recommend B skis until there is more snow. Enjoy!

Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Got a 9.1 mile Blue loop in the afternoon. I classic skied and used my good skin skis. There was a lot of debris in the classic tracks and quite a few bare spots. I used my good skis but probably should not have. The skate deck looked ok though. Beautiful place to ski!

Fairly good conditions today. Looks like it hadn't been groomed since Monday, but it firmed up pretty good. Just a few thin spots, otherwise good skiing.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Good skis ]
We skied the first part of the blue loop Tuesday. The skate deck was in good condition but a little soft. The classical tracks through the pines was exposed to grass in multiple areas. We skied on the skate lane through the pines. Otherwise if you don't mind skiing out of the tracks conditions are good.

Good conditions today with additional snow this morning. Was being groomed as I skied. Soft and a bit slow, but good coverage in most areas. Just a few thinner spots, but nice to have good skiing again.

Fluffy soft snow. I skated the Blue outer loop, the orange loop, and the purple. Kudos to the DNR folks here. I saw the groomer four times in two hours of skiing. This fluff is getting packed down. Skating is a bit slow in this type of snow conditions but I used good skis and had no issues. It is a mast year, so in the pines there will be pine cones but they are easily avoidable. Striders were enjoying the deck but the set track is at a minimum. The snow just doesn't support it yet. Dress warmly and have a relaxed ski. This is not PR setting snow but it is a smooth ride with beautiful scenery with either technique. Get some!

Skated the system before grooming this morning. The fresh overnight snow was fairly deep. Grooming started mid morning. All the trails had full cover but could tell the pine sections on blue and white were just cover enough. Hopefully the grooming doesn't expose anything. The deepest was the stretch of green/orange/red overlap.

The groomed skate deck was soft and slow as expected with the new 4" of fluffy new snow. It took me a while to adjust my skating and it was still enjoyable despite slow and more effort. Some areas under trees had bare spots but was not a problem.

Grooming finished up about 3pm, and he was able to set a track after all! Conditions are very good. Enjoy!

Conditions are soft but far above expectations at Nordic right now. Trails have been more than just rolled but actually groomed multiple times already with a classic track. It's still quite thin on the sections under the white pines, mostly in the return of the white loop.
