Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Skied at noon on fish scale skis. Trails had fresh corduroy and no classical tracks except for the orange hiking loop. Not sure if base is getting shallow or if track setting occurred after the lunch hour. Snow conditions very good in open areas. Trails in the trees had a few sticks. Almost ideal and very enjoyable!

I skated the pink and yellow loops late this afternoon today. The trail had quite a few sticks and leaves. The skate surface was hard and uneven in many places. I enjoyed the trail, but it could use some more snow and grooming.

Classic skied the yellow loop around 10am. Tracks were mostly good and 3/4 to full depth. Trails appeared recently groomed. The entire yellow loop was packed and tracked, and the back sections of trail adjacent to the farmland were packed as well. Conditions were best (as expected) in the open areas. The beginning section of trail in the woods (if headed counter-clockwise) had a fair amount of roots, etc. poking through, but nothing that was too difficult to avoid. Beyond that section the conditions improved greatly! Plenty of coverage for the up and downhills, just one easily avoidable bare spot on the sledding hill. Still great skiing at Minooka!

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic Secondhand
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Finished ski at 3:30 PM. All trails freshly groomed in excellent condition. Tracks excellent full depth occasionally bottoming and oak leaves in woods. Some hills had an extra center set track. The new ranger was trying to groom out a center ridge when the sled had an equipment failure requiring a trip to shed for repairs. The center tracks were removed when I finished skiing.

First time visit and caveat I am low intermediate skier. Groomers did a great job with not much snow (3-4" base) but classic tracks were well-defined in hard packed fine granular except south/east of sledding hill some wind erosion. Not strictly icy at 3 pm. I do not skate but saw a few tracks on the Pink loop. Long inclines and corresponding declines description is apt. Not many level straightaways to get into an easy pace but view is nice with some tree cover most of the way. About 3-4" more depth and a bit looser top would be more fun IMHO but only 30 miles from Milwaukee, I highly recommend it.
