It was a very nice afternoon. The tracks were good. There were two porcupines in trees. There was one on the blue loop halfway down the hill, the other one was on the Dippety Dew trail (it was a little bit back in the woods). There had been a dog on the trail, so there were paw prints on the trail.

Great conditions. Look for the porcupine up in the big tree on the left overhanging the trail about 2/3 down EZ Ryder. Third time I have seen it there. Enjoy!

Nice! Tracks are firm, kick is good. A little soft on some of the outside pole plants, but overall very nice skiing in the city. Get out there!

Very good conditions at Piedmont. There are a few areas with sticks and leaves in the trail, but overall the snow is great - fast, but not icy. The hoarfrost on the trees made for beautiful scenery as well.

Four inches plus of new snow. I got to the trail while it was being groomed. It was fully groomed by the time that I left. Great conditions. The newly set tracks creating stable skiing. Get out before it gets cold again.

Plenty of snow at Piedmont tonight. Freshly groomed, solid tracks and pole plants. Was it perfect? Yes. Yes it was.

Reaffirmed-- this is my favorite trail system in Duluth! It's not the longest, but a perfect gerbil cage for intervals. Like all classic tracks in Duluth right now, it's icy and there is a lot of debris in the tracks. I started on skin skis. They worked perfectly. Knowing not everyone is attempting to sneak the purchase of fancy skins past their spouse, I also used a set of classic skis with grip tape. The kick was equal on both skis. The tape picked up more debris than the skin skis. But the tape was way more durable than hard wax, which I was having to re-apply every 45 minutes the day prior. Support our local shops and pick up grip tape. Then head out to Piedmont for incredible classic skiing.

Gorgeous tracks set at Piedmont. They are very firm and just a little slick making for quite a quick ride! Hard wax worked just fine, but waxless may be a good option if you are not wanting to engage in a bobsled ride on the downhills.

The trails were great. The tracks were good. It was a nice afternoon to be skiing. The woods were beautiful and I enjoy the signs. There was a tree decorated in the woods.
