The classic tracks at PIedmont are in amazing midwinter shape! Firm, deep, shape is retained, little to no debris! Drifting has occured towards the end but it is easy to ski it in each lap. The areas between where the track ends and the new one begins in some areas are like slippery concreted but the skate deck is firm cord in most spots. If you want a good classic ski, I'd suggest Piedmont...but dang it is super duper windy!

Icy conditions at Piedmont with the freeze/thaw cycle recently. Our scale skis had a hard time gripping on some slight uphill sections. I'm sure skins or wax skis would work better!

Light snow on top of ice tracks made for surprisingly good classic skiing. Oslo Purple was a little sticky but kicked well in the mixed snow conditions. Most tracks were skied in but not too fast. Very little leaf litter - nice clean trail!

15F. Overcast, no wind. The tracks couldn't be more perfect. It's like xc skier heaven. Tracks are super solid all the way around everywhere.

Excellent conditions in the late afternoon: clean snow, deep classic tracks, firm pole plants. Blue skies and about 21 degrees made for comfortable skiing. The sign on the tree summed it up well, "What could be better?".

Trail was good today, groom looked and felt very fresh. Skid every trail, classic, the tracks were good; even the skate deck on the skate loop looked great. Very little debris.

8 to 18 inches of new snow in the Duluth/Superior area. Thanks to Duluth City groomers for getting out early Wednesday! 10 degree F at about 2:30 PM when Beth and I skied Piedmont. Cold, dry, wind-blown snow, but perfectly groomed into double classic tracks. Fairly decent glide, and so beautiful with perfectly blue skies, and even though crisp temps, no wind and plenty of late February sun made it seem balmy in this rather cool year. What a great winter this has been!

Piedmont is not groomed yet from the recent snowfall. No tracks set from skiers, only from walkers. I skied out a little way and came back. Snow is deep. Will check back tomorrow.

Beautiful conditions at Piedmont. Tracks freshly set in deep new snow. Essentially perfect. Kudos to the groomers!
