Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Another great day on the Teuton trails! The trails were firmer than yesterday due to the colder temperatures, with a dusting of snow to take the edge off any potential iciness. Generally great skate skiing conditions, no tracks yet.

Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Skated all the loops on the Teuton side today and had a great time. The skate deck is a little soft for pole plants, but generally pretty good, if a bit slow because of the warm temps today. Beautiful day on some of the most fun trails anywhere! Thanks to the groomers for getting this gem ready!

Night
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: Most, B skis ]
Warmer weather today allowed the snow to compact some. Classic tracks were set on Loop A and are pretty solid (washed out in some places). None of the deck around the tracks has been rolled or groomed since the last snow, making for deep powder and soft pole plants. One large tree was down across the start of Loop A and scattered debris throughout the loop. If you are not out for speed or consistent conditions, the trails are wonderful.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
The entire Valhalla trail system was dragged again today. All of the trails received multiple laps to widen the trail base. The C trail on the Valkyrie side has only received one pass with the drag, so is more narrow than normal. The last storm brought down a lot of trees, and heavy snow has branches hanging low. Everything is passable, but there are still some trees leaning into the trail. Please ski with caution and stay aware of changing conditions.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
All trails within the Valhalla system have been cleared from the recent storm. There are still some trees leaning into the trail from the heavy snow load. Please stay aware of your surroundings. Windy conditions are expected throughout the weekend, so be careful. The entire trail system was dragged today, there is a flat, durable surface throughout. Trails B and C on the Valkyrie side (north of highway C), only have one pass through with the drag, but it is passable. In addition, we received approximately 8 inches of new snow Wednesday. Have a nice weekend!

Observation
[ Trails Open: Partial, B skis ]
Forest Service staff has been busy clearing trails and all loops should be cleared today. Hopefully we will get trails on the Teuton/Chalet side dragged today as well. We are waiting for a part for our groomer and track setter but that should be here late this week (barring any bad weather delays) and then we can begin grooming in earnest.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Skied the Teuton side. Trails are open, and a 3-5" base rolled, with 2-3" of new, fairly wet ungroomed snow on top. Skating was not really feasible, so skied classic in the skied-in tracks.

Who's excited for ski season!? I know I am! We need a little more snow before we can groom and set a track. But we did take the side by side out and cleared the down trees. Time to wax my skis and find my favorite mittens. Hope to see you on the trail!
