2018-2019 season

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Very poor conditions for classical tracks. The last time set was Monday, whereas the skate deck was rolled once after the 2 inch snow Tuesday. So, with use and the snow fall 75% are very poor. Only along the north segment along 43rd St is there a track that held up very good. I hope with the new snow the groomers will set new track.

Rolled out the walking path this morning, and groomer the full set of trails, and dropped classic tracks as well. Should be 100% open and great ski conditions. (Photo prior to grooming)

Groomed all trails and set classic tracks, but the wind is quickly drifting over all trails. We will be out there ASAP once the wind dies down to clean up trails and set classic tracks. Thanks!

Groomed and set classic tracks this morning after an inch of snow fell last night. Kudos to the Loppet folks for quickly getting us a snowmobile after our usual one broke down this week. Trail conditions were good.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Soft and lumpy conditions. The skate deck is a bit tore up from skijoring/dogs and runners that must have mistaken the ski trail for the multi-use trail. No classic tracks set as of 2:00 p.m., but skier-made tracks all around. Skating is possible, but you'll get a workout. All of this being said, Hiawatha has great conditions for recreational touring on natural snow!

Yow! We got a lot of snow in the last few days. Our crew has been out taming and sculpting all that snow into functional trails. As of this morning we have been able to roll out all the skiing trails, the 1k and 2k cutoffs, and the walking trail. I was not able to get the classic tracks down this morning as the snow is too soft and the groomer would have gotten stuck.
Grooming plans: We need the snow to firm up just a little bit more, so we will be out there tonight with the groomer to get the nice cord on the skate deck and classic tracks down. Thanks for your patience on this. Enjoy the snow!

Skate deck was a bit icy tonight. More snow should help with that! Classic tracks looked good all the way around, but I didn't have time to employ both disciplines tonight.

Great conditions continue. Groomed the 4k loop plus the 2k and 1k cutoff. Laid down fresh classic tracks, as well as tried to keep expanding the width fo the overall trail. Also rolled out the walking trail (on the left). Enjoy the snow!

Skate deck has firmed up very nicely now! Update from Friday night: fresh groom on the skate deck, fresh classic tracks, and freshly rolled out walking/dog/biking path. Everything looks good. No bare spots, no ice, no issues. Enjoy the fresh snow!

Hiawatha is groomed with classic tracks. Skate deck is wide and firm. Wind is blowing hard so there will be drifts. Enjoy!
