Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
All of the Drummond Ski Trails have new tracks set. Thanks to Jesse, the 5” of fluffy, new, dry snow was incorporated into the existing damp base with some very nice tracks. As of noon today the parking lot had not been plowed.

[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
New tracks have been set on Antler, the Boulevard as far as Jackrabbit, and all of Jackrabbit. The Racetrack, Playground, Antler Chute and the rest of the Boulevard have been rolled, but no tracks set. As soon as the deep base has set up, we'll set tracks on the rest. There is a lot of snow out there! Today's winds have brought down plenty of debris on the trails, especially oak leaves. In many places, the recent heavy snows have laid the brush along the trail down into the trail, making ducking and dodging a must until they stand up again. Thanks to crews from the Washburn Forest Service, all of the downed trees have been cut and removed.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Most, Good skis ]
Tracks were set on parts of the Drummond Ski Trail today. The Boulevard is single tracked as far as Jackrabbit. The whole length of Jackrabbit is tracked, as is Antler. There are pine needles and branch debris in places, but the tracks are good throughout. As more of the downed trees are cleared, we'll compact and set track on the rest. There is plenty of snow and a good base.

[ Trails Open: Most, Good skis ]
The Boulevard as far as Jackrabbit, Jackrabbit itself and Antler have been rolled. The Antler Chute, Racetrack, Playground, and Boulevard beyond Jackrabbit still have deep snow and may have trees blocking the trail. Dale and I cleared another half dozen trees that had succumbed to the heavy snow load of the past few weeks and rolled the trails that are open. The rolled base is quite soft and needs to be further widened and compacted before we can set tracks. The woods are beautiful with a heavy snow load on all the trees, but that early deep snow broke numerous conifers, buried them, and made grooming difficult.

Grooming Scheduling
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Everyone is digging out from the weekend. We didn't finish in the money for snowfall in Drummond, but at 18" were at least honorable mention. That, on top of the 9" or so from two days earlier is taking time to dig out and clear roads and parking lots. Washburn is listed at 31" of snow. That amount of snow will take some rolling and compacting and hopefully not getting stuck in deep drifts. The Town of Drummond hopes to have the parking lot at the trailhead plowed by Tuesday. We'll get our equipment out there and begin grooming on Thursday.

Grooming Scheduling
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
As of Saturday night it was still snowing. We already had about 9 inches of old snow with more falling. It has been a long time since we've had snow like this at Thanksgiving time. We have not groomed yet. Grooming plans: We'll will leave the woods to the deer hunters until next week and then roll what we have and see how the base looks before setting tracks. Be patient, it will be a long winter.
