Trail Detail
Notes
The trails wind past Clear, Hemlock, and Inkpot Lake. There are a couple of steep hills and most of the trails require intermediate skiing abilities. There is also a four mile expert trail (red loop). A shelter with a fire ring can be found on the trail.Trail Reports

Cut and tracked all loops this morning. Track quality and depth vary due to the hard snow base. A fair amount of debris on the trail. Overall fair to good conditions.

I arrived at 3:00 pm with temperatures in the low 30's. It appeared grooming had just been completed. I was the first skier on the trails after grooming. I skied the Red, Blue, and Green loops, all loops starting out from the parking lot. Grooming was the best I have seen here in quite a while. The groomer raised the track setter for the downhills. In my opinion, the Red loop has become harder to ski as the woods continues to close in on the trail. On the section of the Red loop starting where it splits from the Blue loop all the way to the shelter, there are multiple turns that are too tight to navigate. The Blue and Green loops were in excellent condition. The track was firm and fast. The big hill on the Green loop and the big hill on the Blue and Green loop return were nicely groomed and quite manageable.

Very good conditions. We skied the green and blue trails and the last part of the red trail. We were the first ones out after the couple of inches of fresh snow fell on the tracks, so it was slow going, but a nice change from the previous slick conditions. There were a few places, particularly at the end of the red trail, where snowshoers had gotten on the tracks, but overall very good conditions.

I arrived at noon with temperatures in the mid thirties. The trails had all been groomed on Thursday and it looked like I was only the second skier on the Red loop since the trails had been groomed. I skied the Blue, Green, and Yellow loops, starting from the parking lot for each loop. The Blue and Green loops had seen quite a few skiers since they had been groomed the day before. Conditions were good the first hour and started deteriorating over the next several hours with the track slowing down a bit. However, the trails were still very skiable. With warm temps, the key is to get started as early in the day as possible.

Warm weather and sun made the trails sticky and slow for me today. This led to reduced gliding and a few stops at the beginning of a downhill stretch.

Good new snow. We skied Red then Blue/Green and finally Yellow trail. Got 9.3 miles. Narrow single track for most of trails. Be careful to make sure you are going the right way on the trail. If you see the square colored tag on post on side you are approach - good. If only on other side of post you are going the wrong way!
