Cut and re-set tracks on all loops early this morning. Track should be set up well before any skiers get on it. Conditions are excellent!

We got an additional 4" of snow Friday night/Saturday. Groomed and set track on all loops this morning. Track looked amazing and was setting up nicely when I finished grooming, but the current light mist might cause tracks to get icy. Near/above freezing temperatures can change conditions quickly.

It appears the trails were groomed today. About 1” new snow on top of that and still coming down. I hadn’t skied Raven in over 35 years, and it was still as hilly and technical as I remembered it. It’s narrow in many areas, so a wide herringbone is tough, but not a big concern. If you like old school single track classic skiing through dark hemlocks and gorgeous hardwoods with steeps and corners, this is the place for you.

Nice soft cover over the tracks made for a classic Northwoods day on a classic Northwoods trail. Single track in most areas added to the joy of the day. Plenty of cars in the parking lot, and one snowmobile. Hmmmm, curious I thought. The one skier we overtook followed us in and went over to the machine to place his skis. Turns out he’s an Illinoisian who does it all. Works for me.

Very hard compacted base due to heavy prohibited foot traffic combined with warmer temperatures. All loops have been leveled and tracked. Some areas of shallow track. Good conditions.
