I skied the Red trail again today. The downhills were even faster than yesterday. The tracks are all holding up well with very little tree debris. The snow is in a beautiful condition and the colder temperature made skiing up the hills quite easy.

We strided the Red Expert and Yellow trails in the early afternoon. Several inches of snow had fallen on the trail since the Thursday night grooming. This is not necessarily a bad scenario when skiing the Red Expert trail, which slows down some of the steeper hills. The Yellow Nature Trail is one of the most scenic sections of the trail system, with it's towering pines and closed in feel. Thanks for the grooming!

I skied the Red loop this afternoon. I really hit the jackpot today with the best skiing of the season for me! An inch or two of fresh snow and very fast glide as well. The downhills all skied beautifully and not at all challenging. I'm very happy that I chose to stop by and ski the Red loop today!

I skied the Red Loop which had several inches of fresh snow on top of a firm track on the first section until I came upon a couple skiing the Red Loop in the clockwise direction at the roller coaster hill. They skied the Red Loop in the clockwise direction starting at the shelter. Control was good and I managed to fall just twice. I then skied the Blue and Green Loops. Both had several inches of fresh snow on top of firm tracks. Track speed was good. Overall I would rate conditions as very good.

Beautiful forest with many 50+ year old hemlocks and red pines make skiing these classic-only trails magical. The outer red loop is technically difficult in many areas, fun twisty descents throughout. Skilled grooming make these narrow single tracked classic trails skier-friendly: tricky downhills and steeper climbs are groomed wider and tracksetter lifted for better control/ploughing and herringboning. I think these trails were groomed last Thursday or Friday morning after the 4-5 inches of dense wet snow fell (Tuesday/Wednesday) and probably not since. Tracks were still mostly intact but much small debris from trees, especially the hemlock areas. 20% or less of the outer trail had been hiked on, but only by maybe two people. Edge control not a problem. At 30 degrees, mist was falling throughout my ski and kick became more elusive as a result. This is such a beautiful forest, if the debris is off-putting just come after it snows again.
