Fantastic conditions! Thanks to the groomers for doing such a great job! Easily some of the best conditions I have seen in many years at McMiller.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic

Great conditions! Barely a thin spot to be found anywhere. All the trails were groomed after the recent snow fall and the hoar frost made for some great scenery. Definitely worth the drive from Madison.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
After seeing the line of cars waiting to get into Lapham I headed south to McMiller and was glad that I did! Classic tracks were generally good, though soft in a few spots. Only very minor brush sticking up in a couple of spots on each loop, nothing of significance, nothing that I think would scratch a ski. The skate deck was soft and a little bumpy or "rolly;" it could use a bit more snow to even it out. That said, I saw several people skate skiing. I saw no debris in the skate lanes, no dirt showing through, no rocks.

Afternoon
Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
All trails packed, leveled and track set. Colder temps overnight should help it set up nicely, so conditions should be very good to excellent overall. Indoor shelters are still closed to the public due to Covid. Restroom addition is under construction and donations are still needed to help us complete it! Contact Anne Korman if you are able to help. Happy skiing!

Evening
Observation
[ Trails Open: All, Bare ground ]
Grooming plans: Groomers are watching the weather tonight and will be out working as soon as possible provided we get several inches of snow and temperatures stay cold enough for us to pack it down. This is a mixed system, so please bear with us as we do our best with what a Mother Nature gives us.

Morning
Observation Secondhand
Helped set up the biathlon range and was able to check the ski trails...there is a couple inches of snow but not enough to groom (per WI DNR Southern Kettle Unit phone recording this morning). There are hunters out and there were foot plants in the middle of the trail heading out from the parking lot but nothing to ski just yet.
