Reports 7 to 16 of 23    Month: Feb | Jan | Dec
Sunday, January 30, 2022
Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Perfect conditions at CLCF Nordic today. With full coverage, trails groomed this morning, sunshine, and mild temperatures, it doesn't get better than that! Thanks to Jerry for all of his efforts in making Fox Hills such an amazing place to ski!

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Striding on waxless skis was good. Grooming, tracks mostly good but occasionally washed out. Snow coverage is surprisingly solid but suspect you could possibly break through to the ground, so I'm suggesting B skis.

Afternoon
Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
We received 2-3 inches of new snow. The skate deck was re-groomed, new classic tracks were set, and the parking lot was plowed.

Morning
Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
All the skate lanes were groomed this morning with very good conditions in the fields and B skis in the woods. Classic tracks are ok in most places but some got blown in with the light snow last night.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Good coverage, getting thin but nothing dangerous. Everything groomed, tracks in place everywhere but the hilly woods sections.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Skied classic and skate. The classic tracks are good except for a few spots. The skate deck is firm and with the couple of inches of lake effect snow today, there is ample snow for edging and control.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
I classical, diagonal stride, skied CLCF midday today. Solid snow cover, grooming excellent, set diagonal tracks good, firm. Skate deck good, firm but not ice. Fair amount of wind blown debris in the tracks might push the diagonal rating to B skis.

Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Skating at CLCF this afternoon was good. Full coverage on all trails. However, steep hills are becoming hard with what little powder there is pushed to the side. Thus, skating up them requires better balance than, say, last Saturday when there were powder everywhere to get a clean skate-off without slipping. Classic tracks remain solid, with only a little debris catching in the tracks.

Morning
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: Most, Good skis ]
Out this Mid-morning. Skied the entire classic track system a couple of times. Of course Jerry was just finishing up grooming the entire skate trail system....again. Classic tracks were even firmer than yesterday and faster too. 16 degrees F and Toko dark blue carbon gave good kick and great glide. Fox Hill Nordic is in really great shape.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: Most, Good skis ]
Skied everywhere there were classic tracks set. 13 degrees F. Used skin skis with good grip and marginal glide. Another skier reported good success with Blue Extra. The tracks were really good! ( that's just a bit below great and not quite perfect). Deep set and held up well except in the corners and a few of the usual washout spots. But really good! No bare ground and little to no debris. Woods Loop, Upper Fields, Truck Lane, Apple Tree Hill and the Prairie Loop all tracked and ready to go. Skate deck was firm and fast and groomed throughout the system.
