Trail Reports

2019-2020 season
Reports 3 to 12 of 24    Month: Mar | Feb | Jan | Dec | Nov
Wednesday, February 26, 2020
Morning
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: Most, B skis ]
Snow is good consistency and there are some trails that have had an additional track laid for classic skiing as the old one was icy. With previous melting of snow there are some edges of a few trails that are thin. Temperature and snow is great right now though!

Morning
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: Partial, B skis ]
A lot of the snow melted this past weekend. Trails are still intact but extremely messy and icy this morning. Skate ski trail is pretty rough, but not as icy as the classic ski trail. More of the trail is expected to melt this afternoon. The days of skiable trails here are numbered.

Morning
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: Most, Good skis ]
All trails are groomed and set and there is some drifting happening over some of the ski trails in the prairie areas making it hard to see the tracks. Otherwise trails are in good condition!

Afternoon
Grooming
[ Trails Open: Most, Good skis ]
All of the trails are groomed currently for classic skiing. Most are groomed for skate skiing as well but are not packed down really well, mostly because of how powdery the new snowfall was on Sunday.

Afternoon
Observation
[ Trails Open: Partial, B skis ]
With the 6-10 inches of snow we received through the early afternoon, snow removal of driveways/parking lot needed to happen first before grooming ski trails. It is not expected to have all trails groomed until later Monday into Tuesday although some grooming/packing down trails may happen later this afternoon.

Morning
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: Most, B skis ]
Trails are extremely icy and classic tracks will not be re-groomed due to lack of available snow. Some spots in the trails are rough from people walking on the trail when the temperatures were higher and things will melt. Trails that are farther out from the nature center are very thin on snow and have some grass poking through. The covered bridge has a patch of snow/ice but the rest is bare so be wary if you are skiing over it.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: Most, B skis ]
Trails are a little sloppy with the melting of snow but are not unskiable yet! The high temperatures have made for very little gliding but bare ground has not been found yet. Hopefully with cooling temperatures the trails will remain skiable for a while.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Both
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Excellent skiing, both classic and skate. Got about 1" of fresh snow this morning. Groomer ran over about half the trails by 2:00 pm. Those trails are perfect, with deep tracks and a firm if somewhat uneven skate deck. Today's ungroomed trails are still very good for classic, good for skate. Very fast. A group of 6 graders were on the trails and doing well. Some were just flying on the new snow, despite what looked like pretty crude technique.
