Trail Reports

2021-2022 season
Reports 3 to 12 of 12    Month: Feb | Jan | Dec

Evening
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
The multiple light snows added up over the weekend to allow for grooming on Sunday and Monday. This has given us great conditions in the woods. Skating on Wednesday night was fantastic. The fields are shaping up nicely, but still use some caution on your first trip around.

Nice ski on the lighted loop, very windy. Fast, packed snow. Classic tracks were there. Most lights are working.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
We missed out on the snow, so tonight's grooming was just to clean up the skate deck. Skiing has been great this week, and this was another opportunity to level things up. The skate deck was done on the entire system, including the fields which are really starting to shape up. The tracks look good. They probably won't be reset until we get some new snow.

Trails were groomed recently and had been skied-in for a great deck. Was a great morning to ski before temps climbed. Classic tracks were fair to good, spots of leaves and shallow track.

[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Skied around at sunset, the trails in the field definitely should use B skis. Corn and plant stubble comes through in both of them. The lit trails are good coverage, skied in and fast!

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Most, Good skis ]
We got about 1.5" today on top of a nice flat base. The trails in the woods were groomed with new track set in the evening. Things should be great this weekend.

We had a little difficulty with the tracksetter the other day (it wouldn't raise) so there were some corners with tight tracks. I figured that out and touched up the skate deck Saturday morning. The fields have been groomed, but they need more snow. Stay in the woods. We have things pretty level and firm, it is skiing better every day. There are a few spots where the tracksetter burned through the deck and is brown, so I would go with B skis for classic but in the woods on skate skis you shouldn't have to worry.

[ Trails Open: Most, B skis ]
The trails in Rockman's Woods and on school property have been groomed for skating and classic skiing. The classic tracks were pretty well set and the skate deck was touched up Sunday evening after the initial Saturday grooming. The Skate deck is starting to firm up and should make for nice skiing in the morning and evening hours. The classic tracks were nice and should become firmer. They have washed out a little on some of the corners and curves. Good skis could be used for either technique because the thin spots are few and far between. The lights are on, so enjoy the night skiing.

15 inches or so compacted into 3-4 inches of base. 10 hours and 10 gallons of petrol to get the woods and school areas in great shape.
