None of the trails were groomed after the recent snowfalls but so many people have been on them it was fine and a pleasant experience. Actually since they are slower, I was able to go down all steep hills with no problem. No debris on trails but I broke off about three branches at chest level crossing the trail. There were a lot of happy people on the trails today.

Howard's Loop was somewhat icy but only had to walk down one Steep Hill. Golden Eagle Loop was somewhat soft but still enjoyable. The rolling bag was great. Some litter on Trails but didn't slow me down at all. All in all a great afternoon.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
A week with warm and windy weather took its toll on the trails. There are patches of icy trail and needle cast. Trails were groomed Friday evening and tracks are set. The 8.5 k skate ski trail is groomed and is located on the southeast side of the trail system. The lighted loop is up and running until 11 pm every night. Enjoy.

Fresh snow made skiing really great as all debris was covered up. Did the main East and West Loops plus the Sherman Loop. I broke Trail as the loops were ungroomed but groomer came through just as I was finishing Sherman. This dug up a bunch of sticks so please take the time to flip them off the trail as you go through. I broke off a bunch of branches sticking out head level and trail level but left the rest for aesthetic reasons. Love to the tree arches over the trail left by the trimming volunteers! Very beautiful effect. Thanks.

Observation
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Groomed last week. All trails are open and clear of fallen trees. Tracks are set on all trails. Really need some snow. South central Minnesota has been hogging all these storms. Volunteers removed trees yesterday and cut back some brush and branches. There is pine needles on the trails in places and some footprints around where the work occurred. We do need some snow, it has been awhile! Temps are wonderful though. Great time to enjoy the lighted trail during the dark of the moon. Grooming plans: Will groom Monday or Tuesday.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Most, Good skis ]
All trails are groomed, there are just some trees that need removal and brush that needs to be cleared back after the heavy snows of December. For those of you looking for alternate activities for the trout opener, the Howard Wagoner Volunteer group will be hosting a trail clearing day tomorrow January 14th. We will meet at the south parking lot at 10 am. There will be chili, a warming fire, and s'more's. Trails are open for skiing if you are not interested in clearing though we welcome you to bring loppers or a small hand saw.

[ Trails Open: Most, B skis ]
Beautiful trails! Old school single track classic. It looks like the trail had been groomed a few days earlier. There was a ight dusting of snow on top, some soft pole plants, and tricky downhill corners, but we love it here. This is skiing the way I remember it!

The trails were groomed again Thursday. They are tracked and have a firm base. A lot of work has gone into clearing the trails of debris and branches by our awesome groomer and his elves. Come on out and experience the beauty.
